Don't you need to extract your stairs to move to the new location?

That new storage bin could be about twice as big without the stairs.

Docsgsxr, I'm moving it behind the front wheel. The only thing Mama asked for was a copilot seat so she gets it. Robin97396, there are things behind the steps so it wouldn't help. I'll just build new steps where the new door is going to be and let the old ones where they are.

The old stairs make for a great place to add some drawers for tools......... Just sayin'!

Is that why you already left the bottom of the door uncovered? You're adding outside storage or inside storage? Either way it's a good idea, maybe kind of like an underfloor fridge in the winter. It's already waterproof.

I'm not sure what will go in there yet. I'll probably make a shelf on the second step and bring it out all the way. That way I'll have two levels. I'll just have to make new steps where I put the door in. After I cover the side I'll just cut out a small door and I'll have a nice storage compartment. I got pieces cut for the floor but didn't weld them in yet. I'll do it tomorrow. I'm reusing the ceiling panels. The plate is welded in and I'll weld a piece of heavy pipe for the swiveling seat. It's coming along, just time consuming but I really enjoy doing this type of work. When it's done I'll enjoy the heck out of it.

I like a door close to the driver just in case I want to jump out before a cliff or something.

Just a quick update. I got the shelf in the storage compartment and got the copilot window in.

looks good!!

is that a driver's window turned upside down?

only issue to watch out for is water in heavy rain and wind whistle while driving.. normally on a slider driver window the front - most sash is the outer sash.. which keeps the seal between the 2 sashes on the back-side.. away from the wind.. placing it on the passenger side.. the front sash would be the inner... hopefully that window is in good shape and wont cause any issues..

Hi cadillackid and thanks for the compliment. Yes it is a driver side window. I think it will work ok. If need be I'll put a deflector on it.

Neat, I like the storage hole. Did you consider removing the squared off corner for the old door?

If you can make it happen, (with a friend) using solid rivets for your side sheets really makes a difference.

You could put a hose reel or other toolbox type things up in there.

Hi aaronsb. I had to leave the steps as they are. There are things on the engine side of the steps and I really wouldn't gain anything by removing them. I wish I could buck rivets but I am doing this by myself so that would make it kinda hard.

Just a quick note to say that I am still around. I am working in Vermont. I will probably be back some time in November.

Hi everybody.

I'm still around. Haven't been home to work on the skoolie. Left Vermont, went to Florida and now I'm in Alabama. Hopefully I can get home soon and get to work. I miss working on the old girl. I still get on here everyday and enjoy your posts.
