Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Hey Bansil, it runs yep. It came from 120km away and the people i paid to deliver it had to drive home so it was easier for them to tow it and drive the tow rig back. it was cheaper to pay the delivery then to get a specials permit and insurance and fuel.

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

I drove it at the yard to make sure it functioned. Probably April i will pull all the brakes apart and change the pads and rotors and prep it for safety. I'm lucky i am mechanical and one of my best friends is a mechanic. I already have found some things that need to be fixed but that's to be expected from a 14 year old bus.

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

wow looks good, glad you got it home. now heres what I can tell you what I had to do, Im in ontario too, I got my from iron range buse lines that supply all the buses in my neck of the woods, It was 100kms from my home. I got insurance that would be good for a year so that i could convert it but it had to be done in that time frame, I had the pink card with me, I got the paper work for the bus, it was saftied all ready , whent over to the mto office and regestered as a motorhome, no problem, put the plates on and drove it home when i had conversion done I had to get a inspection done for the propane and a appraisal done. this all for insurance they can be real jerks, they wanted to charge us $1800. for year after the converstion, we called around and most companies wont insure converted school buses, we did started to panic then we got incontact with allstate the said they insure us if we gave them a car as well no problem gave them the bus DW van my truck and the house best deal around, but they where out to lunch for our motorcycles so they are with TD Insurance. so you better check your insurance, I have told other people to go to allstate, and they said they wont insure them
Also, if you did not get the saftey with you bus, I suggest you do it before you start modifying anything on the bus.

where abouts are you? Im north of thunderbay

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

GB i am from Hampton which is about 10 mins out of Oshawa (40 mins east of Toronto. Thanks for the info because the insurance always concerned me.
I will make some calls this week. I am going to call the garage that does the safety and ask them about what i should or should do prior to bringing it in. I plan on moving the door to mid way back on the bus but i can't see it being an issue as long as it sealed from exhaust getting in.

Well today was a long long day! Grinding the heads off the bolts for the seat brackets was not fun or removing the screws holding down the edging. They seemed never ending lol At least it is done and i can remove the old plywood floor and rear heater.

Here some images from today:
My Daughter hanging out while i work...

And were done for the day!

Put LED lights in isle too.

Congratulations! It looks like you've got a nice bus and everyone is having fun. The day you get all the seats out and see all that space is a good feeling, eh! You're looking at endless possibilities. Take your time and have fun with the conversion. I look forward to following it online.
