Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Quick little update. Rear rad and hosing is removed and 1" coupler to rout the coolant back installed. Old plywood is removed up to to behind the drivers seat. RV door is ordered and will be ready for pickup on Sunday. This weekend, grind clean and possibly paint the metal flooring.

I did a video today but learning how to upload it to the web is taking longer than expected!!

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Wow, the flooring part sure sucks. We finally got our first coat of oil based primer on today and doing the bonding coat tonight so it will be dry for Monday so we can do the plywood flooring. Tomorrow off to pick up the RV door for the side so it will give some good curing time.

I got some free seats from my friend out of a 2004 TJ Jeep. I am a Jeep guy so they will work perfect!!!!

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Got up extra early this morning to warm the bus up. Painted the rustolium rust bonding paint before we left to go on a 2+2 hour trek to pick up the new door.
Home now with the door but the paint still is not dry but getting there, should be good to go on plywood tomorrow.

New Door

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Thanks PT, no i haven't gotten the insurance yet. I am going to get it changed to a Motorhome first at the DMV so the ownership shows Motorhome not a bus. I should have a majority of the conversion done by June. Tomorrow i have to get a hold of a few heavy mechanics to make sure moving the door midway back will not effect safety. My friend is a regular car mechanic and said that as long as it sealed and securely fastened that it will be fine but I want a second opinion on that before i have it done.

This is the form i have to fill out and provide images and receipts. You have to have 4 out of the 6 on the list done prior to the change.

Re: Project Niles Skoolie

Well after having a discussion with a few RV / heavy equipment mechanics we decided to go ahead with the door moving. They said as long as it was sealed and installed properly that it would have no effect on the safety.

Soooooo no turning back now!!!

A little more triming to do on the inside then we will start fabricating the stairs and inner section.

My Dad and I, hanging out helping me today.
