Nice! The journey begins... many sleepless nights, busted knuckles, broke budgets, sore back, rinsing crud out of your eye, scrubbing paints and adhesive off your hands, bandaging scrapes and cuts, searching craigslist for supplies and parts, trips to the lumber company, and hardware store, drilling out rivets, prying up old flooring, and yes trips to the ER. If you have a spouse: "if you had just bought an rv we could have been camping a year/years ago", and "we have spent enough money on the bus now". "Lets just finish it with what we already have".

Good luck, its quite a journey!

Bill

You know my old lady? She got on bus once, begrudgingly, and promptly complained. Helped 1 time, for 5 minutes- putting air in fuel tank while I laid underneath marking diesel leaks, and griped for hour.

I wonder why men find younger women at this age.

Hah. I think I'm lucky there. My wife already knows a) that RVs are usually built like junk, and b) that this will be a " project" more than an immediately usable piece of equipment.

It would appear as if you have found a pretty nice bus.

The fact it has hydraulic brakes tends to make me think that is a really light duty bus. As you build your bus make sure you are keeping track of the weights of stuff you put in. On a bus like yours it would be very easy to overload the front axle. You may have less than half the weight of the GVWR for a total but if it is in the wrong places you could have some problems.

Another problem is your transmission most likely does NOT have a park position. That means when you park the only thing keeping your bus from moving is the hand/emergency brake. Which also means you need to invest in a good set of wheel chocks--not the cheesy little RV wheel chocks but the big heavy duty ones truckers use. The hand/emergency brakes on those buses are pretty whimpy and I would NOT trust my life and loved ones to it even if I was parked in a level spot.

Good luck and happy trails to you!

100% right. was working on my bus one day and had to move it closer to a 220v outlet to plasma cut and it ended up being at a slight incline when done. I have a manual so once i shut it off i put it in a gear opposite of the incline and then set the hand brake. I always use wheel chocks too, started the bus (which means putting it into nuetral) then went out and removed the chocks meanwhile the parking brake is still set and when i removed the last chock it started to roll backwards. Ran around to the front door, pryed it open real quick and lept into the drivers seat and slammed the brakes. scary ****. wheel chocks are the best investment if you wanna keep your bus!

Have you seen this bus in person?
That 675 area code on the building in the background is not in the U.S.A.

James has a valid point.......

https://www.google.com/search?q=area...UTF-8&hl=en-US

But if it's 678, it's in Atlanta

Yes it is from a small used car lot. I have seen the bus and run the bus. Today I will drive the bus before deposit. Only reason for deposit is for them to remove seats before sale and title to show picture of seats removal.

Will check park position.

All placard with GVW removed and not on old title

I work in Gainesville near the airport. What car lot is this? I need to check them out. I'm guessing its on Atlanta Hwy. as its predominantly Hispanic.
