Repurposing bus seats?

Hey all, just curious if anyone has found creative ways to reuse the original bus seats, or at least parts of them. There’s the obvious dinette seating but I was hoping someone had some more creative ideas! I would think the steel frame might be useful for something.

I considered taking the frames and adding foam to mimic bucket seats and reupholster them. Use them for a dinette using one left and one right.

Unless you're lucky enough to find someone starting a restaurant/coffee shop with a hipster repurposed vibe, bench seats that fit 1.5 people aren't going to be terribly useful without major work. It feels like such a waste...

Nice welding cart! That is a great use, now I am wishing I held back more of them from the recyclers.

I am planning on making a few workout benches with a few of those we removed from our bus.

Do you know what guage the sheets are? I’m wondering if they’re thick enough to replace some windows. Thanks

I used a few around our fire pit. Vinyl heald up great sitting outside over winter. Saved 2 for dinette, the rest were stripped of cushions and taken to scrap yard. Click image for larger version

The metal is thick enough. My windows are 29 x 24, the double seat back is only 27" tall, so you would only be able to get one window skin from each seat back.

Santa left a couple kayaks in the bus last winter. I need them out before it becomes a mobile storage unit. Was thinking I'd build a couple racks to hang them off the shed. I've got about 20 of those dang things in my shed.

How do you stop them from tipping over? I’d think they’d be too too heavy to stay upright.

This is a GREAT tip! I wouldn't have thought to try to salvage the sheet metal from the seats for this!
