Yep the Senator was their flagship model.

I really wanted to see that research ship be called "Boaty McBoatface". My bus reminds me of a large boat, so the name came to mind and made me smile.

If CB had a FE or RE brick shape, it would be Sponge Bob Square Bus.

I think that would look like a large block of Swiss cheese, with a face. Fun to see and do but that would attract too many little kids for my tastes.

I'm going for something plane Jane that blends in the forest and doesn't attract attention while in town. No, not camo. I've got three large camo trucks, so I don't need a camo bus.

That sounds fun, and expensive. You're going to need a dual sport bike to put in there as a backup and for fun.

I need to start acquiring rivets now. The cheap small ones are easy enough to find, but I want a very specific rivet- plain steel closed end mandrel 1/4". Gonna need a few hundred or so.
closed end

open end
McMaster Carr and MSC have all kinds of blind rivets but they only come in Stainless Steel and Aluminum.

Gonna head out to the bus today and take out the driver seat and pull the engine cover doghouse thing.
My linkage is sticking and its pretty scary. There was a recall on my hand throttle and throttle linkage, apparently. The hand throttle apparently isn't aligned properly causing wear and binding, or something.

Will probably have some questions for yall and some pics.

I can't stop looking at my completed de-tarring work! Feels so good to have that out of the way finally.

Started with a bit of mess

Gonna basically build a new one of these out of wood or metal-

bless this mess

linkage on the left

I lubed it all up LIBERALLY and worked it back and forth after I couldn't find anything broken or too worn to be causing the stickiness. After working with it and taking off different sections of the linkage I finally think I found the sticky part. The very bottom linkage- it probably got cleaned of its lube when I power washed the underside of the bus last year.
After getting everything lubed and worked its functioning great!

The cable is the hand throttle. The angle is wrong, so I'm going to rework it and fix it for good.

wooot! I found out I don't have the 95 amp alternator that was originally in the bus. Looks like a newer 130 amp unit. Will upgrade one day when that one craps out.

Gonna need to do the valve cover gasket and get some new boot seals for the turbo piping.
