So glad I check the free stuff on Craigslist every day multiple times.
Today I hit the jackpot.
The impound lot in Orlando let me strip apart a damaged 1995 Fleetwood class A.
Two good windows, an ice machine, a stove/oven. a washer/dryer combo unit, stainless kitchen sink. Coulda got more but ran outta time and energy real fast.
Everything looks like it wasn't used a whole lot. A little cleaning and freshening and I've got some decent stuff for FREE!
Will post pics when I can. Only got a couple but tomorrow I'll take some pics of the sweet haul.

I scored some captains chairs and a bench from someones van on CL a month or two ago.
Far as I could tell the appliaces I got today look ok. I can buy a few more cans of Rustoleum Appliance epoxy now. I love that stuff.
For all the products of theirs I'll be using, Rustoleum should sponsor this thing!
I'm very sore, getting some of this stuff out was pretty brutal. It was in the 90's today too. The washer dryer combo about killed me. Wasn't much room to work in there, it was a real mess.

Good haul CB....I need to get over to my CL and see what I've been missing. Somehow, I just stopped going there.
I would love a washer/dryer combo, but possibly more in my dreams than taking up a space in my bus.

Lots of folks don't like the combo units but they're not so bad. Roxy is from Scotland and that's just all they use there.
I'm excited about the ice machine!

Ice machines are almost as good as ice cream machines

I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to get the nearly mint condition 20 foot awning home 30 miles.
I also want to get all the window awnings and the leveling jacks.
Yes, Bansil, the ice maker is gonna be nice to have!

Assuming you don't have a truck, strap it to the roof of your car and flag it?

My car is either a 2002 Focus or a 2013 Subaru. Neither has a rack on it and the awning is at LEAST 20 feet.
even the neighbor's truck I used won't haul it.
We do have an f750 flatbed but at 3-4mpg it would be an expensive, uncomfortable trip through heavy Orlando traffic during business hours.
The guy said he will tow the rv to me for a hundred bucks but then I'll have to cut it into pieces, burn the non-metal parts and scrap whats left. too much work for an awning and a few bits.

CB, I had to pick up 2 2"X6" X 22' pressure treated boards I was using for a railing on my house. I put a clean rag around a piece of Styrofoam SM and put it in the back/center of the roof of my pick up[didn't want dents or scratches in my paint]. Put the 2x6's on the roof and tailgate, took a 1" ratchet strap wrapped it around both boards [choking them together] and hooked the strap to both frame rails between the cab and the box, gently tighten. Did the same at the tailgate then red flagged it, almost 50 kms to home, never moved or caused any damage.
I would love to have a free 20' awning for my project, just sayin'

Can't you rent a Uhaul for the day? I'd go & get it and throw it all in a Uhaul and call it a day.

two straps 1 front bumper and 1 rear bumper...done

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'm trying to contact the guy but I think that one day was all I got. The guy was really nice but was really trying to move/give away the whole thing to make space in the lot. Its probably already at the scrapper but we will see.
Gonna get everything if its still available. Will give away anything I cant/.dont use.

Nah the guy must have scrapped it or otherwise gotten rid of it. The ad was removed.
They have been showing up every few weeks or so, though. Soon as I get my GMC pickup or the F750 road worthy, I'll be set to pull some of these free RV's home for proper beer-fueled parts removal. The GMC needs intake and head gaskets and the f750 needs brake work and a bit of wiring redone. Our Ford Focus is long overdue for a timing belt as well.
All these projects going at once!!!!

I've been finding lots of forlorn rv's all over the place. I just scored a supposedly functional Coleman rooftop unit with heat strip for a mere $40. Gonna test it out this weekend. For the money I was willing to gamble.
I haven't been posting much on here lately. Found some temp work. I'm applying Coal Tar Epoxy to the hulls of luxury houseboats at a marina. Sanding and swabbing decks too. Terrible, hard work in the sun, but it paid for my new 60 gallon 2hp Compressor. Ahh no more Bostitch mini pancake. No more aerosol cans of paint either. Will be using my two new paint guns. Just cheapo Kobalts but so much of an improvement!
The aircraft stripper has made short work of all the asphalteum tar on the underside of the roof. We brushed and sprayed it on, let it work its volatile magic, and scraped the goop right off. We let that sit until the stripper dries for a few days and it comes off easily with a wire wheel on a drill.
Sorry I don't have any pics, I've been balls to the wall busy. Feels good, but the coal tar epoxy has me wishing I'd been more careful with application!
Boats are just rv's that float.
I may have a line on a sweet motherlode stash of houseboat window take-outs.
I may actually have found some "shop space" that I can use for the long term and may even be able to help out some others if this goes well.
Good things goin on!

Working to fund your bus sucks but we all have to do it.
I feel your pain.

Yes it is great to have income.
Job is already over. They "will call me".
I take almost any work that comes my way. Been trimming trees for the last few days and de-tarring my bus on the side. Got five panels done and primed today thanks partly to the new compressor and paint guns.
