Roof Racks

Has anyone ever made a roof rack? I'm looking to make one out of household discarded items - metal bed frames, old or borrowed stop signs - any information would be great. We're trying to do as much as we can for free.

Do a search. There has been a couple people build racks and document them well. Anything can be done with the right tools and imagination............and beer

Oh Yeah! I have to second this. Lots and lots of beer. The more, the better.

As for the roof racks. we saved our seat frames with the intent to do something similar. We hope to use them for tank storage, additional under carriage storage compartments, a roof rack, etc. Of course we aren't even anywhere close to that point, yet. I can't wait to hear about your own roof rack, as I'm sure you'll get to yours before we get to ours.
