Some Extra info after seeing what I uploaded lol

- We did the door last year, the awning is a solid awning we take off for driving it just covers the door. Because of how we did the door it sits flush and was getting a lot of water on it when it rained, we live in BC and it rains a lot lol so this was our solution for now, doing a large canvas awning as well soon.

- Interior bathroom cement shower came out awesome!

- Back bedroom is complete just need the bed

shots of the diesel heater under the bus, fuel tank, truck boxes, electrical areas and pump area

If you are interested in more info about anything or how/why we planned or built something a certain way give me a shout!

Paint and toilet time!

Hey Hey!

So I went and took on the big job of painting the remainder of the bus the last 2 weeks and it came out great!

I used Raptor liner, which is a tintable 2 part box liner. I sprayed it with the Raptor pro spray gun. I used Black and the stock Beige color from raptor to do it. 4 Litre black kit and 14 Litres of beige covered all you can see! If I did it again I would get a little extra black, I had enough beige. It says 125SFT pper kit but I would say closer to 100.

In general I loved the product, it sprayed nice with no overspray I did it in my driveway. The process is major though, prep like you would for paint and make sure to cover imperfections, they will show through after even with texture.

Love how it came out. We also did bug screens on all windows and we got out nature's head toilet! so all in all the bus is just about complete now with all systems functioning!

Oh and I replaced the windshields and gaskets...... don't even ask it was a birch to do and yes I broke glass.... again don't ask but it's almost done and looks good and I will never do it again.... period haha fudge.

Anyway, it's been a hell of a journey but I am proud to have all the big jobs done, plumbing, electrical, heating, glass and now paint! Now it's time to live in it I guess!

After 4 long years we are Complete! Insured! Everything Works!

Well the title says it all! after putting in a lot of work over 4 years we have finally finished our but George (Seinfield reference) and this was the "Summer of George!) If you get it you get it.

Here are the final pics of it plated, our bed in the back and our toilet installed. The electrical works like a charm and the water heater and pumps work great. We stayed in it and it is comfy and amazing!

Moving into it now and organizing all of our things, and about to install StarLink internet in the next week or so. Then I guess it's trip time!

A huge thank you to everyone here on Skoolie, without you all we would have never made it to the end. To everyone who reads this, go build that bus and remember it might take 4 years but your gonna finish it, and you're going to love it.

New Thule Awning and some more show off pics

Hey all, update after getting through our first winter in the bus living full time.

Everything is working well! With some minor issues and some extra work we have made the bus even more comfortable.

We managed to get through cold temps of -14 at the lowest! No freezing or big issues, only 1 exterior pipe froze on the coldest stretch but was easy to unfreeze.

Our diesel heater has been pumping for days on end, probably more then a month of continuous use at least! It works great, and fuel consumption is very manageable. We use a electric heater to add a little in the back and it worked great.

Recently get a new awning from Thule, the mounts needed a custom bracket made for it to fit snug on the bus so I grabbed the welder and have it a go.

Here are some shots of it!

This is the Thule Hideaway 10ft, we also have the quickfit tent for it.

Thanks everyone! We are very excited to be hitting the road after 4+ years of hard work, finally living in it for the last 6 months has been a wonderful way to realize all the hard work is very much worth it. The jobs never end, but the feeling of pride grows with every new screw and coat of paint.

This page has been essential in every part of the bus, without the knowledge and support of the forum it would not have been built!

In the next few weeks, the last of the engine maintenance will be complete and George will finally get to feel the wind as we hit the highway (at 85 KMH :P) Vancouver Island here we come!

A few more full shots of the bus

Finally got around to taking some full shots of the bus in all 36ft of glory. This is prior to the awning install but still shows most of the features.

Raptor liner has held like a champ through wind, snow, rain, ice, and sun for 8 months now. I would recommend it to anyone looking to paint. Nice color, can tint any color, and great hold. It even resists diesel like a champ around my fill spout for the heater. If this amateur can spray it in the driveway and make it look good anyone can!

Electrical Upgrades - Cerbo GX and Ruuvi Tag

We made it through winter without incident other then mould growth on some area's of the bus that were not insulated enough, or had metal that although being insulated behind and in front with foam board, tape and foil was still forming mould.

The issue seems to be that when dust, or dirt can build up and then moisture is present, hard to avoid in negative temps in the little areas under beds and at the rear of the bus this black/green mould will start to grow on the metal.

easy to clean, but starts to smell after a while. Only solution is to kill it all, clean it and then spray foam anything that is metal, seal any gaps and try to keep things heated and nice and dry and clean.

Spray foam everything!

Anyway back to electrical. Added some cool items to the Victron build to make take it online. The Cerbo GX unit adds some cool features to your Victron Equipment as well as a nice interior touchscreen.

Main reasons I upgraded
- I had to use Bluetooth to check my levels, it's all on my phone which was annoying to pull out, and then in the front of my bus the Bluetooth was weak.
- The Cerbo GX allows you to access the power system from online, so I can remote view and control all my power system
- Cerbo also allows for relays, and generator on off etc so I can build in more automation and control additional appliances from remote VRM
- I have added Ruuvi Tags which remote measure temp, humidity and movement and tell me that info remotely via the VRM app

Setup was pretty easy, some proprietary cords for Victron to hook the units up and some cable running. The Ruuvi Tags also linked in easy with Bluetooth, I added an external Bluetooth dongle to the Cerbo GX to increase the Bluetooth range and my sensors all hook up easy.

I have a Ruuvi pro outside for temp and Ruvvi standards inside for temp, humidity and motion. The cool part is I can see the history in Victron VRM or on the Ruuvi app, it lets me easily see what my temps are inside and control/ monitor when I am not home.

I have two cats so this has been essential to monitor them, with my AC and a couple remote camera's hooked up to my Starlink I can monitor my rig from anywhere.

It's pretty cool because now, with my solar running, Starlink on and Cerbo GX connected to Starlink I can see and control my system from anywhere in the world completely off the grid.

You can also link up Bluetooth propane monitors, and the Seelevel tank monitor system to the Cerbo GX and I will be doing this soon sto monitor my water, propane and grey tanks. Then everything will be In the Cerbo!

I'll dump links and images here for the parts and sources I used for info.
