Re: Searching for the nebuchadnezzar

Don't own one but I've been on sev eral boats that had marine diesel heaters. Worked great and was surprised at no diesel smell. The marine units are typically $$$$$$.

Does anyone have experience with the Mercedes Benz MBE926 engine?

Thank you,

Re: Searching for the nebuchadnezzar

The early versions were great engines with good power, torque, and fuel economy.

The later smogged versions has a lot of issues, so many that M-B decided it wasn't worth the effort to get the engine to comply with the newer emissions standards.

Parts and pieces can be difficult to find locally. Most of the time you will need to wait for parts to come from the national distribution center.

Re: Searching for the nebuchadnezzar

On your electrical questions you might go to www.rvtechmag.com and check out their tech section on electrical. What you will want is a automatic charge controller which can take the output from your solar, shore power or alternator and maintain your batteries at proper charge. Magnum makes an inverter charger combo that will sense which item is being used for charging automatically. Some of the better charge controllers can produce regulated 12 volt power out of solar panels up to 42 volts. HTHs

Re: Searching for the nebuchadnezzar

Laidlaw purchased hundreds of the IC RE buses with the T444(E).

It is okay for a route bus but is woefully underpowered out on the highway and on any kind of hill.

Since you have the E version there aren't a lot of upgrades you can do to your engine to get more go out of it.

Some of the Banks Engineering upgrades for the Ford Powerstroke will work on your engine including chips and turbo's if your engine does not have a turbo.
