Re: Second time around

Howdy Newbusser --- the new generation alternators and electronics are a big leap from what was available 10 years ago. And if you look at what get used in high demand vehicles, they are built to much higher standards than most off the shelf OEM stuff.

Below is the unit I settled on plus the external 210amp "Quictifier". The alt has a 210 amp rectifier built in so the added external will give me a total of 420 amps worth of protection. Note that this arrangement is for my Cummins diesel with an 8-groove pulley but they have them set up to match just about anything from a Ford to a Freightliner. Still shopping various switching options & systems to handle start & house needs.

Got my registration changed over from school bus to Motor Home today. All it took was a weigh slip and a copy of the WAC that said i didn't need an inspection.
Gotta love the Washington state DOL.

Concerning your battery charging issues what you'll need is what's called a battery isolator. We used them in the marine industry to keep the starting (cranking) batteries and house (deep cycle) batteries charged while the boat was underway.

A while back, (quite a while) someone said they could get a lot of information about equipment on a bus with the VIN number. Anybody know where i can look up my VIN to get info?
