Re: Sinclair

I have a Class C, the front section of the cabover part was beat up pretty bad. Based on what the roof and sloping front of the cabover looks like, I'd say it had been in a hail storm at least once (maybe more). Also I had tiny pin holes in the thin aluminum skin. I rolled primer & Snow roof over it to seal the leaks and to try and keep the heat build up down. It worked. It doesn't look too bad (even after driving it from NC to NM and then NM to Corpus Christi). But I don't think I would want to have it all over a bus or RV. Even with a smooth nap roller it is "textured". It has roller marks and other marks. This is not like paint. It is thick, goopy and will run on a vertical surface. It does not cover evenly. The front section was white to start with. The primer is a light grey and I rolled 3 coats (5 in some spots as touch ups). But the front looks so much better and it is much cooler than it used to be.

By the looks of those wheels, I would say the cab is extremely large. But the living quarters would still be too small.

Re: Sinclair

Doing up plans for the battery bank so I can get the wood and start building... ran into a prob. How far apart do batteries need to be spaced? sides, top. What I have gives 11" by 8 1/2" spacing per battery. Should they be closer or further apart? Top spacing gives 5". Vents will be on 3 sides of box (and top if need be). Figure will eventually put in 4 batteries. So box 2'10"x1'x whatever height needed (12"?).

Suggestions?

Re: Sinclair

Basically a wood frame box with paneling, so I can make it any height needed. I want to put a hinged lid on it to access them from the top. Thanks, Smitty

Re: Sinclair

You might consider making the front of the box removable/hinged also, then you can slide them out of the box as needed instead of having to lift them.

Re: Sinclair

Guess need to pick up the pace to get a bus. No one was hurt YAY Body is sore as all get out. Guy ran into the front side of my car while he was turning today. Guess he didn't see me and I couldn't swerve out of his way fast enough to save my poor besty's driver's tire from being popped. So rather than fix the front side end will sell the old beat up baby for scrap. Rest in peace old besty!

Re: Sinclair

Great news is that GMAC doesn't think that fender bender was a big deal so gave me a quote on a 97 Bluebird today, which is bigger and newer than any of the buses I've been looking at so far. Cost to go with GMAC is $20 more than it cost to insure old Betsy and I'm getting slightly more coverage. DANG!

Re: Sinclair

So I was gonna purchase this big shuttle bus but having spent days talking to the guy and a mechanic I decided putting $2000 into a bus that's $500 not counting tires or cost to ship ($1k) -- HELL NO. But if anyone is interested in it and wants the details and what not I have let me know. No carfax info on it, so the "yeah guy before me rebuilt this and that" can't be proved. Auction ends Sunday afternoon.

Re: Sinclair

After such a long $&%# time looking and having seen over a dozen buses in the last month, I finally found the right type, size and hopefully--good condition. Bought for less than $3k plus. I'm having it delivered to me for various reasons and it should be here April 4th.

Family is excited. Me, I'm nervous I'll reserve my excitement for when it is here in one, working piece. A few weeks to figure out where to start and try to get my hands on the materials I still needed to get started. Must be ready before mid-June. Bus is International, bluebird, 30' bumper to bumper. More details once it is here.

Time do do your "happy dance"! What date are you shooting for getting it to the point to where you can use it?

Hey! Hey! At long last congratulations! So is it a 6 window bus? Dognose or flat-face? You know the drill - we want pics!
