Re: skoolie days
Hey GB --- Lookin' good! And if you are interested, below is a link to a radiant barrier paint additive that is nothing short of amazing. Had a friend here in Houston who brushed a single coat onto the old corrugated tin roof in a building he was adding a second floor to and if I hadn't seen the results myself would never have believed it. It was well above 100 degrees out but when you put your hand against the metal it was barely warm to the touch. No other insulation, just a single coat of cheap house paint with the NASA engineered micro-beads added. I am most definitely using it on my bus. Much cheaper and more effective than anything else I have seen in action.

Great work and please keep the pix coming!

Re: skoolie days
Don't forget to keep track of the campgrounds that let you in. Please post reviews over at www.campgroundreviews.com and say that you were there in a skoolie.
You know, this forum seems to be the most organized of the skoolie groups. I think that we need to make the effort to get the "skoolie word" out there. Too many people refer to skoolies and the folks who own them in very derogatory terms (Ie: "hippie bus", "mobile meth lab", "the Clampetts", etc... and those are the nice terms) . I also understand that many who convert a skoolie do so on the cheap and often to "minimalist" standards. We need to be really "good neighbours" whether we are in a parkinglot, dispersed camping or in a campground. I find it interesting how many folks don't know what I mean when I say I have a "skoolie" over on the RV forums. I do my best to educate them but the prejudice that exists amongst the RVers against skoolies is surprising. And I'm pretty sure most have not ever parked in the same campground as a skoolie.

Re: skoolie days
The sticks and staple people are like the bankers, lawyers, and politicans of the world........ in their eyes we skoolies are below them.......
but we the skoolies are the real people of the world, we take care of our own and each other when needed... whereas the S and S are really the ass----'s of the world..
I'd rather be in the company of a skoolie than than the S and S er anytime..........

Re: skoolie days
meth lab? hmmm maybe I can make some fuel money
there will be me,dw,my 9yr, and we will be picking up my 80 year old dad and his dog on the way, maybe we will look like the clampetts!! but hey ,they were millioners!!
In a nut shell we are allways good neighbours, never had a problem useing the bus, and I really dont give a rats ass what people think of us, paid cash for our bus, built it and drive it, skoolies are best people, we know every nut and bolt, water pipe, etc and we have visions. next time a person that owns a $200,000 store bought motor home gives you a bit of grieve, ask him if his flux capacitor is left or right handed, what ever one they say tell him he should get it changed the other way, cause when yours was doing that it used more fuel. u will be suprised how well that works.
will keep you posted, have to go and finish the shower

My 80 year old Dad prefers his swivel desk chair. It doesn't move & wake him up when he naps in front of his computer...

Re: skoolie days
Just be glad the bus has a 4 piece windshield and not the two piece curved version. You'll save a lot of money with the setup your bus has.

Re: skoolie days
Get one of those chip kits or have a pro outfit (any windshield outfit) to fix it before it spreads.
Nick Russell's wife (Ms Terry) of The Gypsy Journal used to do windshield repairs as they traveled from campground to campground. Had her little professional pressure set up and made a few bucks fixing chipped windshields while in various campgrounds. And she fixed any chips in the windshields of their bus and tow'd. I've seen advertised chip repairs between $15 and $25 per chip fairly recently.
