Skuld U Bus "Prime"

Hello All! I am just getting started with my first Skoolie project. So far it seems to be going quite well. I have all the seats and ceiling panels out but have been having difficulty getting the panels below the window out. They seem sandwiched between a bar under the window and another bar below that. I was hoping pulling off the screwed down black strips under the windows on the outside would provide some kind of access. Has anyone tried to strip down this far? I am stripping it because I want to raise the roof ala this post http://busweb.freeservers.com/raising.htm. I'll post some pictures soon. Has anyone completely stripped the interior down to the ribbed framing?

I think you need to take the windows out, removing the rub rail on the exterior (what I believe you are referencing) isn't gonna give you access, if you look up underneath you'll see these panels are screwed on (down) then the windows are installed.

I would recommend a few things if you want a 6 inch raise cut the filler pcs at least 12" long and set them into the window channels, butt welding 1/16 thick tubing with a small mig is asking for trouble in my book

I concur... Butt welding those seems like a terrible idea to me. I'm sure he'll be fine and all, but getting metal to fit inside the channel and having a substantial overlap seems a MUCH better idea.

I agree with above. I will be fitting square tubing in the channel and welding the over lap. Also per the great Elliot on "The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailgate" I will also weld angle on the inside from the wall to the window post for added support. Check out his post for raising the roof.
