Re: Sloppy Yellow
A lot of progress in the last week or so. Race is first week of April, though, and I'll be burning the midnight oil to get her close enough. The bunk bed idea of using the bolts that hold up the rack work FANTASTIC. Makes everything feel solid. The beds are 29" wide and roughly 7' long as I have a son and a buddy that are both 6'5". It worked out nice that the beds start/end at the window ribs, so that also made it easy to build that size. I plan on adding small shelving to one end of the beds to hold phone, keys, etc. Got to figure out how to get mattresses made, and I am right at $900 spent, and I didn't want to spend more than $1000. I do have some old mattresses that used to be in my camper. I'm debating on just cutting them to size, and covering them. We'll see.
The biggest pain has been the toilet situation. I plan on only using Sloppy Yellow at the race track, so I know there'll be a dump station near by. I wasn't really looking forward to mounting tanks underneath either. So after much debate, I decided to get a holding tank from a portapotty. Makes momma happy, has a urinal which makes me and my buddies happy, and was a piece of cake to install. Got it brand new for $75. Comes with a valve kit and everything.
Took all the electrical parts from my camper and ran wire for lights and plugs to every bed, closet, and front and back of the bus. Really need to get the inside done first so I can work on my outside canopy.
