SlowMotion's Race to the Sand Dunes

Well I recently bought my bus and am now building and bargain hunting trying to get it ready to head out to the Little Sahara sand dunes. Thought I needed a thread to post my pics and progress.

I have done the basics and stripped the seats and flooring. The most noticeable progress so far has been skinning the windows today. I bought 2 sheets of 20g sheet metal 10'x4' and had it sheered to 10'x2'. Its just primered to keep it from rusting right now but painting the bus will follow shortly which I expect to make a huge difference. I left 6 windows in it and had about 5' left over to shave lights and such. With a couple tubes of silicone, primer, and some screws I spent just over $100 skinning the windows.

Hopefully more to come soon.

Re: SlowMotion's Race to the Sand Dunes

Alright, well the race has turned into a crawl. I got a good portion of the bus painted and funds and time ran out so it has sat for a while now.

I used tractor paint and rollers. I had issues with both the foam and fabric rollers leaving bits of foam / hair in the paint. If anyone has a durable brand of roller to recommend that would be great. I am also considering finishing up with a wagner power painter. The main issue was in the red stripe down the side, so I might just sand down that portion and spray over it ....idk, burnt out on sanding at this point.

What it looks like now.
