Picked up my PV panel, going to build a mount soon, and start hooking it up when it gets warmer out!

I am using a blue sky solar boost 3000i MPPT controller. It works with higher voltage 60 cell panels and can convert a 35 volt panel to a 12 volt system. I have four 6 volt 225AH batteries I've been using, and the MPPT controller has a separate charge output for trickle charging the starting batteries, so the banks would be stored separately. I couldn't find a kit that was quite like this, and all in I am about at $500.

Hi. My name is Kevin and I am new. I have a 2001 Thomas similar to yours. I have the 3126 CAT engine as well. I have a question about the blow by. Do you get little oil specs on the back after a trip? Mine had little specs after a 2 hour drive. Not much, but I believe it was coming out the breather. Mine doesn't appear to leak oil while sitting and idling. Are the blow by specs normal for this engine?

make sure your oil isnt over-full.. if someone over-filled it you will end up getting oil blowing out of your blow-by draft tube..

Yeah I do. I would consider it normal for a high mileage highly worn engine. As long as your oil consumption isnt absurd id say its fine.

Yeah I got my oil changed at a place in nebraska on a trip, and they overfilled it by a gallon. Haha.

Thanks for the reply. You are an inspiration. I have read your whole thread. Mine is at Freighliner getting the front drivers side windshield replaced. I have a couple of things I need to fix myself. I also need to change the fluids and filters. I'm excited for this project.

I am going to change the oil when i get it back from Freighliner. I am going to see if it looks overfilled. They did overfill the coolant, so it is a possibility. Thanks.
