By all means keep the thread going. You actually have fabrication skills so while I can't do what you do I can see how well it CAN be done.

I know what you mean, sometimes it seems like you're posting but nobody is reading. I've felt the same way but I try to remember that maybe sometime someone will find the exact information they need in one of my posts. When I was contemplating shortening my bus I spent a lot of time searching the web trying to find information about others that did it. There wasn't much. That's when I decided I was going to try to show as much of the process as I could. The fact that I don't possess real fabrication skills might be encouraging to someone else like me.

I read about your addition of the pyrometer and transmission sender. I could never have done what you did, I lack the skills and tools, but it was nice to see how it could be done by someone that possess both. I intend to add a pyrometer to my bus and will have to keep my eyes open for a spot already cast into my exhaust for a pyrometer.

The dashboard in my bus is a mess and I've been contemplating how to deal with it. I like what you did. I probably can't duplicate it but I can get ideas from what you did, thanks for that.

What's the height of your underbody storage, and ground clearance under the side door?

Not sure (raining outside right now) on the storage bay height but I did maintain 17" of ground clearance. I wanted to be able to crawl under for maintenance.

Is everything okay? This story just... stops. I'm hoping to read more, maybe a happy ending? Have you gone in your bus on any exciting journeys?

Yes! I finally finished it and we moved in permanently on our homestead this past October. Posting pics became so cumbersome here after several FB groups opened up. I’ve posted a bunch of pics there in “skoolie technical”, “skoolie nation”, and “skoolie planet”.
I just wish we could post pics here as easily as at FB.
My wife retires at the end of the year. We want to make a big trip after that and focus on weekends close by.

Good to see you're enjoying the fruits of all that hard labor.
Post up some pics when you can, pal.

Got it! Thanks! A search for your bus name GIMEL helped me find the wonderful conclusion to this story.
