I'm going to be keeping as many windows as possible. I realize they are horrible when it comes to helping to insulate the bus but I really enjoy all the natural light they allow in plus mine are factory tinted.

I will skin over a few however like in the shower area. My windows are 22.5 inches tall. My countertops are 36" from the floor.

That's handy! We have 28" windows... Had.

Excellent progress. I played your schedule this weekend. Left work at 10pm friday, back at 6am saturday & sunday, the things we do to have 8 meals with the kid per month. I'm getting better at this swapping to dayshift for the weekends thing, next weekend is out as my mother is coming to town, but the following Saturday I can come lend a fist in whatever unpleasantness you have in mind for.

Yeah, the swapping shifts thing is not easy. I used to do that every month.

Thanks for the offer to help. I'll let you know what stage I'm in as time gets closer. Will probably be getting the floor up on that weekend. This coming weekend I've got to remove the floor heaters coolant hoses. At least I'll have two days to work on it since it'll be a 3 day weekend.

Got the front left and right bulkheads removed today. I guess when I paid to have the seats removed they didn't consider them seats so they left them in when they delivered my bus.



Also pulled up the back floor. I was somewhat surprised by the amount of rust but nothing that a wire wheel brush in my drill and Ospho can't fix.

It was good to see your post about getting your bus moved to a location that you can work on it. You'll be caught up in no time .

I finally drove mine for the first time on Sat. morning just to get the engine warmed up. Man, that 40 ft. is a long piece of bus behind us. Taking corners is a learning curve. But she did good. Nice and smooth on the highway. 1800 RPM right at 60 mph. First time I noticed it has cruise control but I forgot to switch it on and see if it worked.

I plan to drive it at least once a month just to keep things lubed up and moving. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good diesel fuel stabilizer?

Made more good progress today. Got all the old ceiling insulation taken out. Luckily I didn't have to mess with any of that sticky black tar stuff. Mine seemed to be held in by a spray adhesive and using a long bladed putty knife I was able to get out all the residue pretty easily.



Also took out the first side panel. That did not go as easily. The very top of the panel is slid under the bottom of the window frame. So I tried taking out two windows and wouldn't you know it, the damn things we tack welded to the frame where they slide under the window. So I had to use the angle grinder and cut the top of the panel across right under the window frames. At least now I know what lies in store for getting the rest of them out.

Wow, I would've been PISSED if my wall panels were tack-welded. Happy to see the fan in there, keep it up.

Mine were tack welded in the same fashion. I solved that the same way.

EastCoast, the $29 I spent on my angle grinder is probably the best investment I've made when it comes to working on the bus. It's a life saver.

And expect a bunch of screws to be seized and/or rusted into place, resulting in even more grinding.

even though I havent dont a ton of tearing apart the original panels of my bus my grinder has been the best thing i ever got.. but then ive also used it for car restoration projects too..

anytime a bolt is ceased or even when ive broken one off and had to drill it out the grinder has been used to grind it off or smooth out the rest of the stud where i could get a cewnter punch in the center..
