Higher than the deck will still result in drag, an area of low pressure WILL develop behind the projected 18" protuberance.
My, as yet uncalculated, deck will have a slight drop towards and flush (-ish) with the leading edge (fwd limit of the 'brow'), from approximately 2/3s of the way back, with an equivalent proportionally raked drop, back to the roof's rear.
If I can figger the #s close enough, I reckon I can get my T444E mill to get me airborne!
(Provided they haven't upgraded the guide rails at the Grand Canyon since my last visit...)

I've experimented with home built 'streamlining' on trailers and trucks hauling awkward loads - it's easy to tell how well they are working by where the road spray hits and where it stays clean - I figure an 18" rise at the right angle will keep mucky road spray off something as high as 30 inches when placed at the right distance from the rise - the big vacuum will come at the square back of the bus - I have something in mind involving flexible rubber belting to deal with that

I think I'll put an Adam West-era Batman afterburner thru the e-door, and blow that pesky vacuum the frell away. !

got a lot of admiring comments about it when I brought it home, and some odd suggestions of what it could be used for that had nothing to do with a bus - lol

Not sure if it really what you want but noticed a 59 GMC shorty with a 454 in it for sale in this forum. It is in Oregon.

I know of a great ophthalmic surgeon who can put it back for you...

'had carpel tunnel surgery on my right wrist this morning - surgeon said I had left it far too long before doing something about it, and added that there was so much pressure on the nerves that they were severely flattened and recovery could take as long as 6 months - - - - - the good news is that the surgeon said that it will heal and I will have full use of my hand, 'eventually' - - - - the disappointing news is that there is no way I'll be able to do a usable bus conversion before racing season starts - I'll have to come up with a temporary plan in the mean time

Thankfully, full recovery is on the prognosis platter!

it's a blessing in a curse at the same time, it will force you to slow down a bit (which isn't always a bad thing and considering the surgeons feedback likely something you could benefit from) But now it's alleviated the time pressure of this racing season. So long as you can fix a temp solution and keep hunting for a bus concurrently you can then get "The Bus" your unicorn is out there buddy.
Silver linings my friend silver linings

Every cloud has a silver lining.
Hundreds of people are struck by lightning every year, trying to find it.

yeah - it's not all bad - I have a 5th wheel trailer that can be converted to a dog hauler/camper - the back portion of the roof leaks - it was given to me 2 or 3 years ago to make into a combo, but it was nice enough that my 18 year old, at that time, step daughter wanted to use it herself - now she has other plans so the trailer can be used for the original idea - won't take much more than tearing the leaky part off the back of the trailer and mounting boxes that are already built - once that is on the road I can take my time looking for the best bus for me
