Thumbs up ~~ Succubus ~~ 2003 Bluebird 40' Talltop STFE 4800

Succubus-

n. - A female demon believed to have sexual intercourse with sleeping men

It took awhile to get 'her named, but I think it fits.

She was a former Bookmobile for City of Decatur, who purchased her new from OBS, Ohio for $167,300 (replacement would cost $240K today). City lost funding in 2013 and all 3 bookmobiles were sold in 2017.

OBS custom builds Bookmobiles and Mobile Command Centers based on customer requirements, and they definitely pay attention to details ! They custom ordered a stripped chassis from Bluebird, which lists the bus as a TC/2000, but is built more like an All American. OBS supplied very complete documentation to the Library, who kindly passed them onto me.

Succubus took a very expensive taxi ride to get home. Despite having only 26,550 miles on her, the batteries were missing and she had been in storage for 3 years, so I wanted to give her the full 'treatment' before turning the key.

This is what a $600,000 50-Ton towtruck looks like. Good people, and that's saying a LOT in the wrecker world.

Sweet bus! How do you plan on using it? Full time or RV style?

First, I gotta...

Step:
1) Get running- All new fuel/oil/air filters, Batteries, Wiper Blades
2) Repair exhaust leak- safety first !
3) Service Onan Genny
4) Install Quickie: Cooktop/bed (RV requirement)
5) Illinois Police Inspection for RV title request
6) Flush MD3060 trans/filter
7) Replace AD9 Desiccant for Air Brakes /Inspect linings/slack adj
8 ) Repair rust in basement
9) Remove Bookshelves
10) Build-out

Thanks! This will be a RV for exploring paved America. Will make it flexible, for longer stay or when mother-in-law is in town

Nice bus! I was watching that bus on Govdeals but ultimately decided not to bid for a number of reasons. I didn't realize the bus had been parked for 3 years.

That wrecker must've been expensive. The company I drive for routinely pays over $1000 to recover broken-down motorcoaches.

Wonder if the people that bought the other two bookmobiles will show up here eventually?

have you tried to start it?

sounds like you got a good plan. one comment about your filter change. if the fuel in the tank is old, i'd wait to burn that before i changed fuel filters. a new filter will clog fast with crap fuel.

fwiw, I'd start her up and drive it a few hundred miles before changed filters. burn off the old tank, refill with new clean fuel. you might even top it off with clean fuel, just to dilute the bad thats there.

good luck!

I was watching this. The only reason I didn't place a bid was because I wanted a bigger engine. I'm glad someone on here got it! If it were mine I'd put some more windows in it.
I'll be following.
