Taj-Ma-Haul

It's a '93 International 3800. I got it already "converted". It has a generator underneath in a sliding tray (the bus is wired for the genny), rooftop air, rooftop party deck, large lockable storage box underneath & a old futon. It has the dta360, at545 & 172k on them.
The 550 mile trip home went without a hitch. It does need 2 front tires. The tread is awesome but they have cracking.

I plan to add a bucket seat for the wife & modify the futon with lap belts for the 2 kids. Got a mini fridge (circa 1993- got to keep it period correct), 3 eye gas stove, & 4 cup coffee maker I need to I stall. I need to get a buddy heater.
The cabin is only 9 feet long. I want to add bunk beds for the kids. Between the futon & bunks, that's about all that will fit & not be super tight.

I got it to haul my Jeep Cherokee & the family to OHV parks in the southeast.

My name is David- Goliath is the Jeep.

Oh,.... & the bus.

I went last Friday to get it weighed. It is 15500. The XJ is 4k. I hauled my parts Jeep to my parents property & it rode really well with the Jeep on there. My Jeep has 1 inch of clearance with the back wall due to the exo cage on it.

On the way home top speed was 65. I put some Valvoline atf in & it would run 70!!!!

My daughter wants her bus to be like yours. In the meantime we flat tow our xj with the short bus. See you in harlan 2018 for the cherokee crawl? We'll miss it this year.

Jeep, bus, repeat.

I don't do Cherokee specific rides. I ride with a big club out of Atlanta. On average at least 30 rigs per ride. Most of the guy's I hang with are on 37s to 42s. I don't know how my Jeep keeps up. LOL
If I go to Harlan, it will be in October.

So, I got to looking at turning up the power on my dta 360. Seems the 93 has the p pump. I opened the hood & nothing looked right. I figured it was due to this being my first bus & my first diesel.
I kept digging the first thing that popped out was the intake sticker said "170 hp @ 2700". No wonder its gutless. My bus either had the engine swapped out with the older style injection system or my bus in not a 93.
When I got the bus I verified the vin according to the plate above the drivers head. It says build date was 11-92.

Is turning up the fuel the only thing to help this get some power? Second pic, top left corner is where the fuel screw is, correct?
Any help is appreciated.

some of the DTA360's only had their timing at 17 degrees also.. you can go 19-21 pretty safely on those.. mine is a 185 factory and for a short bus seems OK.. its not as rocket but its a school bus... running your DTA360 above 2700 RPM will greatly shorten its life... IHC published in the service manual that turning them up wont blow them up but will reduce their life... up to 1/2 in some cases...

so i have left mine where it is.. I want it to last... and I'll go slow..

The govener is set at 3100 or 3200 @ 70mph. I am looking to turn the fuel up to get it up to speed faster.

I just turned up the fuel 5.5 turns. Seems to idle the same & about the same smoke as before. (Not very much at all.) I'll drive it tomorrow & see if I can tell a difference in power. I sure hope so. Lol

I'm going to a charity event this weekend @ Adventure Offroad Park right outside Chattanooga TN. Its for a little boy with a rare skin disorder. He was born missing a good bit.

Loaded & ready to roll. This will be the first time towing & camping in it.

Its pretty nice up there. The park is only 7 minutes from anything you need or want. Hotels, food, Wal-Mart, parts stores.
The Jeep sits one inch from the rear door. But at least it fits!

Thanks.
Seems all they have are digital. I'd really rather stick to the factory style in the bus currently.

many are digital because they are thermocouple style probe.. its much easier / cheaper for a manufacturer to make a digital gauge out of a thermocouple type probe.

so its tough to find a needle-style pyro

Well. That settles that! Thank you for saving me the hassle of finding a product that doesn't exist.
Now. Should I get 2 separate ones or get one & toggle back & forth to check the temps? The later?

im personally a man who likes to have separate gauges or at least one that has a large enough display for more than one parameter.. (im also the guy that builds my own electronic stuff so I can see what I want to see)...

I was thinking there were some multi-probe gauges that had multiple displays..

what you want DOES exist..

im a fan of VDO gauges.. ive used them for years in Hotrods..
