Re: the akitabus
The dogs are diffidently a labor of love, they do get to go in the bus but not all at the same time, the brown one died about a year ago as he had what they call a liver shunt, he was born that way and was giving 2 months to 2 years to live, he made it almost to five... he is missed. The mother of the pack does not get to go because she is almost 15 years... that's like 98 in human years and she has no interest in trying to climb the stairs to get in the bus. The other three love it.

Re: the akitabus
Thanks, Browncrown... the color is hideous and unfortunately to replace with the proper canvas the cost is over 460.00... so we are still weighing options of doing it ourselves or perhaps finding some other solution so that it matches the bus.

All the color choices are some shade of hideous.
My favorite color is "free"

Re: the akitabus
Been leaning towards trying to get an awning like yours that scissors out. The Crown does not have straight sides and I'm not sure I can make the conventional style of awnings mount on the sides.

Re: the akitabus
Sure you can. Mine is mounted to the top of my bus. The top mount is a strip that a bead on the top of the awning fits into-and the ends will mount ok on a curve.
And my sides curve inwards on the bottom. I just had to get creative and make a bottom mount.

Re: the akitabus
We are going with an awning by Girard Systems. Its bracing is not down the side of the bus. It all fits in the housing holding the awning. Very clean look. Their website is:
http://www.girardrv.com/rv/
We have measured and been assured that the Girard System awnings will fit a Crown. They have many different styles and sizes, the largest singe awning being 22' long. The ones we are looking at are remote controlled and have a wind sensor to automatically retract if the wind comes up.
Brown Crown, check them out. Your masterpiece would look great with this type of awning.

Re: the akitabus
Working on the back storage area below the wheelchair door. Building metal box out of 18 gauge steel and bed frame angle iron.
This box will house the satellite receiver, propane fire pit as well as the barbecue, plus numerous other things that don't fit anywhere else.
Just a little update for ya.

Re: the akitabus
Just a heads up. Bed frame material, while quite strong, is of a granular composition and WILL fail at weld points. It will be fine if it is bolted together but watch out for welding especially in structural areas. Jack

Re: the akitabus
Thanks Jack, Good to know.... I like both welding and bolting, because you can never practice enough drilling and welding.
My plan is to hang the whole contraption under the bus using all thread.
Till next time GO HAWKS

New bbq
We created and place to hang the BBQ to the side of the bus, with a propane hook up just a few feet away on the underside right below the BBQ. Should work sweet.

New Awning
Well, if you all remember I found a Sunsetter on the side of the road that had two burnt out motors, the company that sells fabrics and such had left it out as they did not want it anymore. We bought new fabric for it called Sunbrella... great fabric by the way (used for most all boat biminis)... plus it comes in many different colors.
Of course we cut down the valance after the pictures were taken..... nice thing about the Sunsetter awning is that it extends about 10.5 feet out.
Till next time.

you'll be pleased with the longevity of Sunbrella....
It's expensive up front, but it will outlast most others, making it cheaper in the long run.
