The B.B. Bus (Crown)

So we made the drive from LA to just outside Washington DC!
Long drive in a vintage double clutch transmission.
But all went well.
Stay tuned for a most magnificent build!

Sooooooo
I haven’t posted in a while. Here’s an update!!!
I’m going to buy the windows on 10/14/18.
They will cost $6,500.00 for 17 windows.
They are all original 100 year old solid brass 20” porthole windows.

I’m replacing all rectangle windows with a 20” porthole. I’m replacing the back 2 windows with 2 bigger windows.

I’m going down in a couple weeks.
Get ready for more!!

Update of very very rough interior to follow.

I am buying enough windows to cover both sides evenly.
When you look at a high end yacht or jet they do not reduce window count based on interior layout.
I am spacing windows evenly In on both sides. Except that on one side I am putting in a 7’x7’ hinged window/roof for a deck on 1 Ton retractable slides.

UPDATE

So I finally have an update!

I just recently returned from SC where I purchased 14 solid brass porthole windows. These things are HEAVY DUTY! They came off an old shipping vessel that was built in the late 30’s.

I will be replacing all windows with these. I will also be putting in one large 84” x 84” window in the center but that one has to be made.

I will be doing the roof raise in December hopefully.

As a boat builder I can certainly relate to this. Going to be an interesting build.

The interior will be very boat like.
I’m either doing all teak or a mix of maple and walnut.

Here’s an update!
Started the roof raise but my welder/helper broke his arm. We’ll be back in business in a couple weeks.

Our HUGE brass window! 8’ x 6’ Which I made by hand. All brass trims and mullions.
This is the one that hinges along the top edge and will open into a roof over the side deck.

Nice work, love the big port holes. You need one of these in your hitch.
