Re: The Bamper - 1977 Chevy 54 pass

I put all six screens on a week ago with the magnets and they're holding on perfectly. I don't think they'd survive whilst going down the road but they'll work great while parked.

We're going out for a short trip this weekend so we'll get to see just how well they work in the "real world".

We've got enough magnets on our bus to level someone with a pace maker!

Re: The Bamper - 1977 Chevy 54 pass

Took Fergus out for the weekend and we all had a blast.

My $150 alternative to a $1000 RV style awning. It took maybe 10 minutes to set it up. Not bad in my book.

Screens worked flawlessly. Not a single bug inside all weekend ! !

Pair ribeye's, a sirloin, and a t-bone. Yummy. Oh, and some potato's for filler ...

BACON. No more needs to be said.

Hobo dinners in the tinfoil. I had mine in my favorite cast iron skillet.

And last but not least ... an apple cobbler.

Re: The Bamper - 1977 Chevy 54 pass

The bus causes quite a stir wherever it goes, of course everyone here knows how that goes though

We've taken it out a few more times camping than we have photos for but the unrealized bonus of having a 2 1/2 ton camper/tow vehicle shines through with my "just for fun" Dj company. It's been a riot taking it to weddings, bonfires, barn parties and town festivals. We pull our enclosed trailer full of sound and lighting equipment behind it, throw some breakfast in the fridge and beer in the cooler and off we go !! Saves a lot of late night driving when we're tired and exhausted.

We went to the Crow Wing Campground just south of Brainerd, MN this past weekend and I've got to say it was one of the nicest, well managed campgrounds I've ever been to. It's always an adventure taking the bus out because most people have never seen anything like it. All weekend we had people stopping over and asking questions and one guy even said, "I wish my wife would be okay with me doing something like this." To which I replied, "Me too!!"

Nothing like being out on the open road with a big blue bus.

"Blending in"

Saw this on the ol' interwebs and had to try it. It was a TON of messy fun. I don't have any after pics but it cut in almost exactly in half ! !

Steak the size of your head ! !

Site all set up. We put our portable room A/C in the bus this year and it was AMAZING to sleep in cool, low humidity all night ! !

Well it's been a while since I last updated but I finally had some time to work on the bus again. I got the A/C mounted in a better spot and got the discharge plumbed out of the floor.

We moved out of town almost two years ago and have been focusing on getting the building site laid out and some groundwork in place for the future.

Here are a few reasons there has been very little progress made on the bus ...

Here is the old building site.

Drilling a new well.

Doing some dirtwork for a new barn and a new hay shed. The barn was build July of 2015 and the hay shed was competed May of 2016.

This is my favorite construction picture of the barn.

Barn is done and the 108 steers are happy happy happy.

Hay shed is going up !!

48x112x18 with a 4' overhang and gutters on the south side. Love it.

The 1/8 ton pickup looks pretty little in here ! !

We'll be taking the bus out for the weekend soon so there will be more to come in a few weeks !!

great spaces and lookin good!!! are you going to build a house or live in the skoolie parked inside one of those nice buildings?

I bought a top of the line 1 ton (12000 BTU)portable A/C and just havent had any luck with it being able to cool anything yet.. it has 2 hoses(even more efficient than single hose) and ive done all kinds of stuff and it makes the bus go from swealtering to just good N warm esp in the sun...

now my road A/C that thing makes it nice N cold inside..

Thanks for the kind words. I am working hard to get the building site setup how I want it and am FAR from done but I'm enjoying where it is so far

There is a small house on the property that we are living in. We are planning on building a new house sometime but aren't really sure when, or where yet.

I had the A/C vented out the side window above the drivers seat last year and it helped a lot I thought. This bus is very well insulated so I'm sure that helps. Most campgrounds we go to in MN have decent shade trees in the sites so they help take some of the brute force of the sun. As long as we keep the humidity down and keep it manageable I'm happy.

I'll throw some pictures of the house and some of the other buildings up sometime soon for y'all to look at.

And some more progress on the bus. I purchased some alum diamond plate to cover up the rear four windows on each side. $25 per 4x8 sheet ... not bad. They have water damage but are going to be painted over anyway so yay for me. Cut them in half and away we go ! !

Well if you were closer I'd say come and get some, there's a 2' high stack where I got mine. They had 200, yes 200, sheets get left out in the rain by the delivery driver after hours. Needless to say the place I got these sheets from is making money selling them this cheap because they didn't pay a dime for them. I grabbed a few more today for a few other things.

I went back last night on the way home from work and it was all gone already. They said someone came and grabbed what was left. Boo on that.

I got the alum on the sides yesterday and put more on the rear windows today but didn't snap any of that so you'll have to be fine with these. It actually turned out pretty good and doesn't look bad at all. It got the wife's stamp of approval so it must be fine.

Curtains are up and it's pretty much ready to go for the weekend.

We decided to make some jello shots last night. I work at a vet supply company so naturally they are in 20ml luer lock syringes. Works great and is rather fun.
