Re: The Big Bus Build
I always check Lowes open and damaged stuff for bargains.. It also doesn't hurt to tell them that you will buy everything in whatever section you are buying the misc stuff in, and ask them what they will sell the whole lot for... (sometimes way cheaper than their discounted price)..
course you gotta bring your truck if you are buying a stack of lumber or 23 damaged bags of cement @50 cents a bag which i have done.

Re: The Big Bus Build
Remember that both Lowe's and Home Depot give 10% discount to veterans. A lot of times they don't even ask for proof, but I always show them my VA hospital card. A copy of your discharge papers will work as well.
If you are over 55 years old, many establishments will give you some kind of senior discount. You'd be surprised how many places do that.

Thx for that chev49... today I was at H.Depot and scored a bunch of tile with your technique... It was on end cap clearance, so I asked an associate if he would give me a better price if I bought them all, and low and behold, he took another 50% off! Wow!
$445 worth of tile for jus over $110! That's what I'm talkin 'bout! Thx again!

Re: The Big Bus Build
You're welcome. I discovered when they opened lowes and home depot here that when they have mismached, left over or damaged stuff they just want to get rid of it, but you gotta talk to the section manager.

Re: The Big Bus Build
A good job can be done with a roller. My next door business neighbor had a paint job for a large grocery store and the contract stipulated he couldnt spray the handrails, etc, so he experimented with the exact temperature and paint-reducer, hardener mix, and rollers. When i looked at it when he was done, i couldn't tell that it was rolled instead of spray painted, and i have painted vehicles for almost 50 yrs. the medium was red acrylic enamel, which the owner chose.

Re: The Big Bus Build
I used industrial acrylic enamel (yeah, I know it looks like it too ), applied by air less sprayer. Painting took minutes.
The paint costs more, but the thinner a whole lot less. I wouldn't brush or roll the stuff. Do a couple of applications, to get the undersides of the rub rail and other spots, and you're good to go.
