I was looking through your gallery today and saw this picture. I bet that put a smile on your face everytime you saw them together.

i'm sure the neighbors did not appreciate the two buses nearly as much as i did.

I do regret not taking both buses to some event together. I kinda miss the ol girl.

only a week and a half until i leave, the bus is not nearly finished, and now i'm injured.

Didn't get anything done yesterday or today. The angle grinder with an ultra thin blade bit my finger in the morning! I should know better than to use power tools before I have my morning coffee. It happened before 7 am. I'm not big on getting stitches, but this laceration was all the way to the bone. It was a bit much to try to super glue back together. Not to mention i couldn't stand to look at it. I'm a paramedic,. blood, guts, and other things dont' bother me at all....but it's a different story when it's MY finger! The doc gave me 5 stitches near the tip of the middle finger on the left hand. He said the blade just barely contacted the bone, but didn't break it. Typing is a little difficult without a middle finger! 3 E D C are difficult characters......

To fix the jacuzzi problem, i couldn't get things to work properly with a proportioner valve.........

so i've now upgraded to electric solenoid valves. They're actually electric valves for an inground lawn sprinkler system. They about 12 bucks each at home depot.

For now, i'm going to use three doorbell type switches to raise and lower the jacuzzi, but i'd like to upgrade to mercury switches to make the jacuzzi "auto level" itself.

here are the valves

here is a mercury switch, sorry about the blurryness...

Also got my 2000 watt inverter. It is labeled Chicago Electric, but looks remarkably similiar (identical actually) to my previous coleman inverter.

I know what you mean about typing with an injury. A couple weeks ago I fell down the staris and busted my wrist. I have to have this cast on for 3-4 months. Even driving is a chore now.

Every time I see one of those accidents I just gotta say "OH Man". Just takes 1/1000 of a second to turn a day into a bad day. Lucky you didn't shatter the bone tho. K... I'm done grossing myself out.

Good thinking on the sprinkler valves, hope everything is hassle free for you from now on.

Owwwieeeee! Boy that hurts just looking at it. Plus it'll impede your ability to signal to other drivers. Septic bone injuries are not good. I'm glad it wasn't any worse (which is not to say it wasn't bad). I tried to stop a tablesaw blade once with the tip of my thumb, but fortunately it just barely nicked me. I knew I should have been using a pushstick...and ever since then I do, religiously!

Have fun... wish I could be there.

Did you ever get the tub to lift the way you wanted it to?

I'm stuck at work today, which is killin me! i need to be working on the bus. so much to do, so very little time!

i have several unfinished projects, and only tomorrow left to work on the bus as i leave early tuesday morning.

I wish i would not have cut my finger....that delay got my too far behind.

I do't have time to finish the roof before i leave. I think i'm simply going to tack weld it in place for the trip out there, then grind off the welds and remove the roof once i get to the desert. I'm bringing my fancy new wire feed welder with me.

The jacuzzi lifting project isn't exactly finished, but i will bring everythign i need to make it work while in the desert. . i plan to finish a few things while i'm out there.....

The veggie oil system is 98% finished

I need to build a quick roof rack tomorrow

I haven't even started to pack my stuff like clothes food ect

The bus wont' be finished, but it'll be in service.

Burningman was spectacular this year! Once again i survived 10 (or 11?) days in the desert. I'm totally exhausted. I'm in reno now, and later this morning i'll begin the 2,300 mile journey home.

Fuel prices are crazy!!!! I plan to burn 50% veggie for the trip home, otherwise i just might run out of money before we get there.

i'll post photo's and stories after i return home.

With zero veggie, it will cost about $1,000 in fuel one way.

Just got home.....5,055 miles total.

Now the cleanup begins! The inside of the bus is totally trashed! There is playa dust (sand) everywhere!

4 of us traveled to reno, 7 of us came back. I took 2 girls to toronto.

The trip was mostly uneventful. 6.6 mpg @ 65 mph, 7.5 mpg @ 60 mph. We mostly traveled @ 60 mph. I burned only about 100 gallons or so of veggie oil. I searched several times for veggie, but seemed to only come up with 10 or 20 gallons at a time.

The only serious mechanical problem was my alternator. It gave up the ghost on the last leg of the trip. I have a geni, and a battery charger, so it wasn't critical.

photo's are coming soon....

Congratulations on a such a successful road trip! It sounds like it was a blast. Especially the part about two girls...

I forgot to mention the border crossing into and out of canada.....

It was terribly unexciting. I didn't get interrorgated, or harrassed at all. On our way into canada, none of us three even got asked for identification.
At both crossings the border guard wanted to come in and see if there was really a jacuzzi inside. I wish the bus wasn't such a mess! I told em i'd come back after i got her all cleaned up. They were really cool. I think i'll make more trips to canada in the near future.

I went to Toronto in January. Getting into Canada was no problem. The guard just asked where we were from and what we were going to do in Canada, and warned me not to kill anyone with my Swiss Army knife, which I had declared. Getting back into the states was not really a problem, but they did run our licenses through a computer system, ask us some questions about where we were from, and weren't real personable.

Here is a photo of the amount of stuff i hauled out to the desert. This large pile does not include the stuff that belonged to me or my 7 passengers. I took stuff to burningman for 8 different people who flew.
