Re: The Brown Crown

That is a really great-looking bus. I am a fan of 2-cycle Detroits, especially 71 series. I used to want an old GMC bus with one in it; but after seeing your Crown I have changed my mind. That is a laydown 6-71, correct?

It is Possum. 314,000 miles on it and still running fine.

Never saw a lay down 6-71, and I've seen everything! Easy to work on?

Re: The Brown Crown

Standard equipment on the Crowns until the Supercoach II came along with the engine in the rear. Easy to work on?...you bet if you have a lift that will do 30,000lbs
Thankfully no real problems to address so far, engine wise...good access from each side to do general maintenance

Couple mattresses, flop it on its side and pull the engine when needed.

Work on them? I didn't know you had to work on them.

Re: The Brown Crown

I have just spent an hour enjoying your Crown, it is a mine of inspiration to me, thank you. I have lurked on this site often for a few years, and am within a couple of months of my first Skoolie, so am in the pre purchase design stage, your pictures have set an impossible high bar to attain - but the inspiration is awesome.

Re: The Brown Crown

The bus is finished for the most part on the major construction, but I find it hard to just sit around...gotta do something to it or it gets lonely
Found some nice chrome stick-on letters at Auto Zone. Crown marketed their body style as "Supercoach" so that it what I went with on the back of the trunk and near the entrance door...just trying to doll it up a little.

I also added some more pin-stripe on the rear between the turn indicators and the Crown emblem. The starboard side and the front of the bus has been striped for awhile now, but I got sidetracked with other things to do on it and never did the back and port side. You can't see both sides at one time anyway, so no one noticed Hope to get the port side striped soon.

Here are a few pics of the work

Front door lettering

Half finished pin striping

The rear end finished...for now anyway
