Re: The Brown Crown

I have recently installed some new cabinets in the bedroom area which gives me a litle more space for storage. The downside was moving the bed, so now you can't walk around it, but I have found it was worth it for the storage. As soon as I can figure the way, I'll post photos of the new work.

Re: The Brown Crown

A lot of really good buses are shown here and as I said before everybody's doing really good work, but clearly the first page of this thread is going to be people just going wow! From the shiny baby Moon's and chrome acorn nuts to that drop dead gorgeous oak carpentry with the perfectly matched ceiling. I'm glad you said it took years, I don't feel so bad about taking years myself. As you can see by the welcome everyone's pretty glad to see your pictures and your work, I wonder how many more undiscovered jewels are out there in America being worked on.

Like the others have said -- pictures -- they make for such great inspiration for everyone.

Happy New Year
Miles

Re: The Brown Crown

Miles and dburt,

Thank you for the kind words. This bus, like probably most here, has been a dream for a long time and the hours spent working on it have been pure heaven. All the major work is done now, just cosmetic stuff on the inside. Here are a few pictures of the new bedroom cabinets and the bedroom area.

The ceiling has a 1/2 inch layer of styrofoam insulation glued to it and then carpeting put over that. The roof bows are where the seams of the carpet and celing panels are. I cut those 1 1/2 inch wide out of paneling material.

Re: The Brown Crown

did you glue it directly to the metal roof panels? what kind of adhesive did you use?

Re: The Brown Crown

putterspitt,

The styrofoam was glued directly to the metal ceiling and the carpet to the styrofoam with Liquid Nails Heavy Duty Formula. It has been up there for a year now and have had no problems with loosening of the materials. Our summers are extremely hot (100's) and the glue has held good through that kind of temp.

Re: The Brown Crown

Here is a picture of the styrofoam insullation applied prior to the carpet. It was flexible enough to form really well to the curvature of the roof lines.
