It's a rust converter, it works on rust. Read the directions for proper dilution. It goes a long way.

Its also great for painting galvanized stuff.
I've diluted it before but mostly use it straight since its pretty cheap and a little does go a long way. I'll try the etch and prep stuff next time I'm out of ospho. I think that'll be a while though- I've got at least a gallon or two.

Every cloud has a silver lining. FedEx showed up today to deliver my 29.3 gallon propane tank which I was ready to install. As soon as she opened the door to the back of the truck I said " send it back". FedEx package handlers treated this box terribly. I immediately called them show them the pics. They sent a replacement immediately and gave me a credit of 10%, $51.38

That silver lining was better than I expected. They sent me a follow-up email to inform me of the replacement delivery and a clause that said take your damaged item and donate it or dispose of it. I called them back and said is this true I can keep this damage tank. She said absolutely. So I prematurely refused delivery, but called FedEx and they will redeliver the damage tank and on Monday I'll get a new tank also

Got my ladder figured out. Didn't want to make it permanent on the side, so I won't be using the four screw hold down plates at the six points for the lower legs. I will screw 1-1/4" x 3/4" diameter studs into the side of the bus at the 6 leg positions. Each will be drilled for 1/4" push pins to facilitate removal and stowing.

I didn't like how "loose" the extended door felt at the top, so I added another set of hinges.

If it's ok with you, I'm going to link your thread to a guy on FB. I dunno if he hangs out here or not. I think he's another bike nut and I think you'll like him anyway. He's got a dog nose and was taking about doing a double door on the rear as well.
Propane tank with a crack?!? I need to go back and take a second look. Looked like a plastic tank at first glance. Is a damaged propane tank even usable? The knuckleheads at U-Haul won't even fill a 5 gallon grill tank with a little rust on it. Pretty sweet on the discount tho. Not entirely the company's fault for FedEx tossing it around.

Oh, that's the base plate. I guess I know who is going to have 58.6 gallon capacity now. Really sweet.

I'm not knocking the idea at all. Kinda like it actually but why the need for a ladder? I dunno if I'd go thru the effort of attaching a ladder to the outside. I'd either just lean it again the side of the bus or shove it thru the e-hatch inside. I don't recall if you have a deck up there or not. If there is, I'd probably frame out the e-hatch to double its size and use something like attic stairs. I really need to go back to where I left off on reading your build.

It didn't damage the tank at all, only the mounting bracket that has bent and broken only the weld on the bracket. I'll post better pic after they redeliver today. It was absolutely not Wayfairs fault, obviously done being tossed around at FedEx. The fact that Wayfair doesn't want it back is unusual. Linking my thread, it's the internet, feel free to do what you want. Certainly willing to help anyone out.

Yeah, I went back and clicked on the pic for the full size view. My guess is because propane and safety, they aren't allowed repair it. That would kinda go opposite of letting you blow yourself up tho so ... .
It's only Wayfairs fault for not making it idiot proof. If they get 37 returns then they need to update their packaging just so they aren't losing money from the FedEx apes throwing stuff around.
I've only just starting talking to the guy but he sounds level headed and what-not. He's older (our age). Seems like an ok dude. Being a bike guy, you probably have more in common with him than I do.

For future reference on how to make my bus worth $55k. Some nice ideas and nice work.

I love how the ad always makes it sound like a sudden job popped up. Pretty standard. Why build a bus if you're applying for overseas work? Doesn't sound right to me.
In another thread they say they've had the bus "a couple weeks"?

Wait, so I shouldn't send an offer? I was searching chair/couch cushions for enough to offer $50k... You can get a professionally converted mint coach for half that.

Alert, Gruesome Cat Injury Pic
Well there goes a couple hundred bus build dollars. My oldest girl cat is a bully and constantly picking on the little boy I brought back from Fla. 1-1/2 years ago. I heard them get into it, but couldn't find the little one till I went to bed and found him laying in my bed licking his wounds. I love all my cats, but the big girl is starting to piss me off. Off to the vet for some stitches.

Got the replacement tank today, it was damaged as well. I wonder what they will tell me to do with this one. The first damaged one will be delivered tomorrow. This shows how incompetent their system is. I called FedEx within 20 minutes after I refused delivery to schedule a redelivery. They said they caught it and will deliver it back to me. I checked tracking and after it left me I see it went to Mebane,NC, Harrison, NY, Middletown, Ct., Willmington,Ma., Willington, Ct., Grove City, Oh., Independence,Ky., and now on it's way back to me. I could go to Hawaii on this boxes Frequent Flyer miles.
I also noted the replacement is an ERBE and not the FlameKing, I'm sure the only difference is the label on it.

MARC.
Is there a chance you want to get rid of one of those?
I am a certified pressure vessel code welder for field work.
I can fix those.
IF you want to let one go?

I have a suspicion I will end up with 2 tanks, maybe 3 and will be willing to let one go. It is easily fixable because it didn't damage the tank at all, just broke the weld from the bracket free. I'll let you know when I here back from the seller.

Do I see correctly? Is the damage limited to the slight bend in the mounting bracket?
If I buy something new I expect it to be in pristine condition when I receive it and understand your frustrations.
Is the bent bracket a safety concern? What is the potential hazard in simply straightening the bend and using the tank?

The ears can easily be bent back in position and mounted properly, It's the part where I paid good money, expect a good product. The first tank, the bracket was broken free from the weld. It will need a bit more attention and welding to repair, but can be used. I'm seeing if they will refund and let me keep this one also. They offer a 3rd, replacement, a refund, or a discount to keep the tank I have. If they say I can keep this one I would probably go for a replacement, and repair and sell the 2 damaged ones.
