The " bus build

Hello all
I'm starting this to show off the progress after a 7 yr stall in progress.. Short story was this bus was bought by my grandfather in 1973 and he later converted it to a first class motor home. I found the newspaper articles and had them framed. Cool stuff. It's been all over the continent and was a "what grandpa and grandma did" type of thing! I mean growing up as a boy the bus was my grandpa, so to speak. As soon as I got to their house I would head to the bus and hop inside or go under it as that was more then likely were grandpa was! Haha.. So I purchased it in 1996 after grandpa passed and I lived in it for 3 years until I bought my first home. I kept the bus and in the back of my mind thought about rebuilding it and restoring it to a first class motorhome again. After sitting on this for 6 or 7 yrs I started the demo. Lost all the pics or at least haven't found them yet
Off came the roof and up it went 13" total. I re-skinned it with almost all new side panels and even new curved compartment doors. Started the electrical and then out came the tarp and 7 more yrs went by
So here I am again back at it. 4 weeks ago I stuck a battery in it and after 2 seconds of turning, she fired up!! Just like that...so up to the garage it went and here is what we have done so far. Thanks for checking out my project and I will be adding more pics as I go. Current date for taking grandma on a ride in the new COMPLETED bus is December 1, 2018 !!
Please feel free to hold me accountable

Gorgeous. I'm assuming it's running a Detroit 2 stroke, 6-71 or thereabouts?

Sweet lookin rig! And it appears you are going about it right. What finish did you apply to the roof?

Thanks you, I went with mascot ( they make the lizard skin product ) industrial coating. It has ceramic and micro bubbles. I have a video I will post with temp gun as my guy sprays across the roof to show how temp drops almost 30*
It is Amazing stuff !!

Looking forward to seeing the vid. Sounds similar to some of the other ceramic bead technology. I have seen a couple of brands in action and went from being a skeptic to a believer as well. Glad to hear you got good results. Planning on doing something similar on my roof very soon but will very likely have to stick with something that can be rolled in place.

got most of the bathroom rough framing in and getting ready to schedule the hot moper. Also preeped the battery set to the new configuration of 48v. The bus is getting closer to be power by cummins/chevy ( battery modules came out of a chevy volt) should go good with the 2,960 watts of solar that are going up top.
