Well it's been so long I just had to post an update for those you who have been missing us (yeah right). No, we're not thinking of selling "Lurlene". Unfortunately she's parked at a friends and has been for the last 2 months. Julie and I are down in far south Texas working as environmental monitors. We didn't get to bring the bus because the company we tied on with already had a house rented. No prob...we work 7days a week 12 hours a day and have taken 1 day off each in the last 2 months. It's great because they provide a place to stay, give us each a 4wheel drive truck, a gas card and a generous cash per diem for food. We spend our days outside looking at wildlife and monitoring construction sites. The plan is to stay with it to the end if possible (hopefully in March) and pack away the dollars, then maybe take a trip with the bus. Hope all is going well with everyone else and their projects.
nice to hear from ya down south there we nominated you for a magazine spread but it was for your bus not the snake and your good looks!i dont know how to link it..... timbuk look for posting in projects under the mane bettis
Not sure what the etiquette is on commenting or asking questions on old threads. Please point me in a better direction if there is one...
I've been through all of Lurlene's build. What a great job, reprobate. Thanks for sharing it with the community!
I'm in the planning stages for a build I'll be full-timing. After several years, is there anything you would change or have done differently from the beginning?
Whatever Reprobate is up to these days, eight years later, this thread deserves to be up front eternally. It just might be the best conversion on this whole forum, "e-v-e-r".
And... here is a fresh link that actually takes us to his photo album!
This has been one of my favorite builds so far to go through.
His roof raise turned out great and doesn't look goofy, paint and probably the best fit and finish of any.
I am going to unabashedly steal several of his ideas, probably including the sky paint job, makes the ceiling almost disappear and give the open space illusion.
I very much wish to know more exactly how he did his slide out. On the pics it almost looks easy and is sorely tempting me to make one myself (would be on the side where the living room is instead of back).
Is there more details on this out there that I missed?
