Today I made a video showing the fire damage and the pre-fire progress, some of which will be removed and replaced as I explain in the video: http://youtu.be/3bDw_qpouBg

Anyone know how to embed the video so the YouTube player shows up in the comment?

Great video. Good to see your smilin' face!! It's truly amazing what can happen and what doesn't in a few milliseconds. Hope your recovery is a speedy one for sure so you can get back to your project. I bet you're totally itchin' to get back into it.

You got that right. I'm a little stir crazy (since I can't really go anywhere on my own), but I have friends that are willing to pick me up on days when my girlfriend is working so I can get out of the house every now and then.

Thanks!

I can't imagine what it's like for you. I've been away since the 24th of Feb (humanitarian project in the middle east) and just now beginning my 2 day travel back. Can't wait to get my hands on it again. You'll be back at it soon!!

I guess before the internet, people just sat around the house and went nuts if they couldn't go out on their own for weeks or months at a time.

New renders showing a couple of details I've rethought since last week:

Here I've added the A/C unit on the wall next to the restroom. I'm planning to build a box around the external parts of the A/C with an opening in the roof to evacuate the heated air coming off the cooling fins. This should be a very efficient means of getting rid of the hot air as well as making it very difficult for anyone to steal the A/C or get access to the inside of the bus by removing the A/C. Over the roof hole, I'll build a raised cover with side screens that prevents inundation with rain as well as a buildup of leaves and wasps. You can also see where I've cut out the wall for my existing 48" x 24" RV window with emergency escape panel.

This is a detail of the new bed placement, a little further aft from the previous renders. I also added storage space in front of the bunks with cubby holes over each bed. Each one will get an electrical outlet for charging phones and for reading lights, etc.

From this angle and with all the parts unhidden, there is a manageable space between the corners of the beds and the opposite wall between the office and bedroom. Based on these virtual builds, I'm pretty sure I can get away with not having the beds hinged at the wall for space savings when not in use. I'll just pad the corners of the beds if bodily injury becomes an issue.

Other than fabricating cardboard furniture, modeling an interior with a CAD app is absolutely the best way to get a feel for a new layout.
