Really like the way the paint job came out...reminded me of mine, because I had the same color on it for a few years

Re: The Flying Squirrel - 1974 Crown Supercoach - Update 11/

I am leaving on the 24th of Nov to go to Seattle WA to get my 1968 Crown. This has been the longest month of my life with 2 more weeks to wait. The views through Washington and Boise, Salt Lake City and through Route 80 back to Illinois.

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments!

@coakes69 - you must be super excited! I'd have gone bonkers if we'd had to wait to pick ours up, especially since we had to wait so long to get the funds together in the first place!

@Browncrown - we were actually worried we were going to end up matching you, we were originally told the paint was taupe/brown. The gray was a surprise, but a great one!

My taupe/brown looked white when I first painted it. As you can see from the picture I took yesterday, it has gotten darker.

It has indeed! I thought it was white when you first posted!

The same paint was used on my mom's house (she has metal siding) so on an off white (I think it was off white, really don't remember) her house definitely looks taupe, but on the macaroni colored bus it's battleship gray! When certain light hits it, maybe duskish, you can see brownish tones so it's turned out really neat. Not what I expected at all.

Had to wait 7 weeks to pick mine up from the date of purchase due to being overseas. It can be grueling waiting to get in the drivers seat!! Gonna be an interesting trip going over those passes this time of year though. Be careful for sure (I used to live in WA).

I'm going make a documentary of the whole thing. From pick up until the end of the remodel.

Thanks for the advice. A guy I work with grew up in Idaho and gave me some mountain passes to look out for. I'm picking it up in the middle of Washington.

Hello inkspots,

Wish I had been more active when you were posting earlier about getting your bus. We are in Kingman, AZ for now. Just down the road from Flagstaff, and we live about 60 miles from the Western Rim of the Grand Canyon. We should be here until April or so of next year.

We are planning to head back across the states to South Carolina (My parents are in Raleigh)

The paint job is awesome, and my hubby is in love with the curves on your bus. Keep us posted with your pictures.

Brat
PS Did you keep the kitty??

Hi Brat,
Yes we kept the kitten, his name is Fuzz!

Thank you for the compliments! Once it warms up and we touch up the paint, we'll post new pictures. We are just outside of Raleigh in Zebulon, so if you are in the area definitely let us know! I feel like we drove right past you. Must be an incredible place to stay.

Bus update: On the last trip, the mini fridge we were given leaked and roughed up some of the floor. We decided to tear out the floor, and plan to add a little more insulation and linoleum. We are also dismantling our temporary set up (including the couch) and decided to build everything in so we can take better advantage of the available space.

Next warm day here we'll be stripping out the inner wall skins so we can start insulating and framing. We've got plenty of time to do the work but funds are limited so it's gonna take a while!

So not really an update, but we started a GoFundMe for our bus!
We aren't rich people and need help, so we figured it couldn't hurt to ask!

Otherwise there is ZERO updates for the bus. Between the money crunch and the trouble weather, it's definitely safer to stay inside! I'm hoping it warms up soon so we can get back to work.

Hopefully some other Skoolie's are making me progress than we are right now. Stay warm everyone!

So- are you a charity or non-profit or something? It looks like you have a home and a nice bus, so why the gofundme? It says that there is no campaign found when i click on it.
I'm just wondering. If you have success I may try my hand at asking for money from strangers.

that sort of thing would never work for me as i am American and therefore, do not qualify for handouts.

stay on topic

Let's stay positive and not drag personal feelings or politics into our favorite pass time. There's a bus for me and a bus for you. different strokes for different folks. Coop

86 Crown

I don't have mine yet. It's in North Cali, picking it up on the 25th. Bought it sight unseen which is totally crazy. hopefully won't bite me in the ass driving back to NM.
