I cut a four inch piece out of one of the ribs to take to the metal shop as a template. This insured that the new rib extensions will fit properly.
I had a metal shop make these out of 12 ga. Sheared, and bent to perfection on their massive bending brake. These pieces are my rib extensions to fill the 23 inch gap in the support ribs.
Showing how well they will fit.
First and foremost, CONGRATS on your baby !!! Mi youngest was born in December.
Secondly, AWESOME CONVERSION PROCESS !!! You are intimidating me !!
Third, my question ... because we are a family of 6, our bus is only 26 feet long from behing the drovers seat to the very back so, we obviously need to raise the roof in order to be able to add a loft for sleeping. I saw hiw you did yours and although it looks awefully intimidating, I think our newbie butt may be able to do it. However, we want to keep the bus windos so, do you think we could make the cut and the extention from under the windows as opposed to qhere the windows would go ?? I hope this is making sense ... or should we just not mess with cutting and raising and just add to the roof ?? We are soooo not skilful or knowlegable at all.
Thanks in advance for any advice you could.give us !!
