Sorry folks, Nat has been on time out and asked me to post this to answer the questions being asked here.
Ownins Corning rigid Styrofoam C-300 is what I will be using. It will not compress under the 14 gauge steel, or a 3\4 plywood subfloor under foot traffic. It is made to hold the pressures of cement being poured right over it. In shop application's with 6 inches of rebar reinforced cement, this gives over 3000 PSI of strength without deflection.
Sorry for the misunderstanding about the specs of the Rigid Styrofoam.
Nat

Viewed this way, nat_ster's numbers are roughly consistent with those cited by jazty (ie they're in the same order of magnitude). I'll guess it was a case of typing too fast and writing "PSI" where "pounds" was meant.

Yeh, there's a dozen ways to write it: PSI, KPa, lbs per square foot, aardvarks per hectare, etc.. I just grabbed the weight rating (in PSI) from the technical documentation of the product.

^ That one is omitting c-200 and c-300 for some reason.. Maybe they are products only available in Canada.

Make sure you are calculating for Standard Aardvarks and not the lighter European Aardvark...

I had a metal shop make these out of 12 ga. Sheared, and bent to perfection on their massive bending brake. These pieces are my rib extensions to fill the 23 inch gap in the support ribs.
Showing how well they will fit.

Hi there.
First and foremost, CONGRATS on your baby !!! Mi youngest was born in December.
Secondly, AWESOME CONVERSION PROCESS !!! You are intimidating me !!
Third, my question ... because we are a family of 6, our bus is only 26 feet long from behing the drovers seat to the very back so, we obviously need to raise the roof in order to be able to add a loft for sleeping. I saw hiw you did yours and although it looks awefully intimidating, I think our newbie butt may be able to do it. However, we want to keep the bus windos so, do you think we could make the cut and the extention from under the windows as opposed to qhere the windows would go ?? I hope this is making sense ... or should we just not mess with cutting and raising and just add to the roof ?? We are soooo not skilful or knowlegable at all.
Thanks in advance for any advice you could.give us !!

Okay - how long does a "time out" normally last??
What thread was it, where they got kickin' ??
Yes Nat_ster can get "intense", however I never saw anything nasty form him, either things got way softy here or what happened??
Cheers,

Totally local over here and blown away by this project, going through it page by page now.
I also run a tiny house/alternative living group and I got to say there are quite a few local people who I think would be very interested in this.

I do hope he continues posting, he is a great source of information for us all.

I'm from Edmonton, I bought a 1998 8 window international last week. Was planning on going right into the interior work but seeing what you've done I'm thinking I probably have a lot more work ahead of me than I planned! I would love any help/insights, maybe I could get you to come and do an initial assessment of what needs to be done sometime?

It's good to see the interest in Skoolies in Edmonton. Maybe some of us need to set up a new thread just for the Edmonton Area to share ideas and parts sourcing etc. Maybe a coffee meeting is in order.
