I've forgotten which heater you have, If you have the 7 day timer, it will only run for a short time (mine is 2 hours) If you supply power to the cpu (like turning on the ignition) I just ran a power wire with switch to it. It will run until you shut it off. You can also program it to come on at a set time for each day of the week.
Manual available on this page.

I have the Wabasto and that is what I plan to do. I'm more concerned about maintaining temp if I need a buffer tank.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Time to start ripping out the floor.
This is going to take a while, it is slow work.
First I cut the bolt with my grinder, making sure the rotation would kick it away from me if I have a blow out.
Then used my air hammer to chisel it out.
My 6 gal air compressor could not keep up so I ended up using a 5 lb hammer.
I got almost half way done before dark. Now time to pack the bus for my trip to where porkchop works on his.

On the hammer.
I bet it feels good to be on the interior.

28 degrees out this morning and it two tries to get the old Wabasto heater to fire up. The scholastic model I have, has the fuel pre- heater to help. We will see how well it helps get the old engine going in this cold.

30 minutes later, water at 110 degrees and engine starts right up. Heading to porkchops for the day and hopefully inkblot will stop by on his way through Maryland.

I'm bummed we will not be able to see your buses this trip, but we will rendezvous eventually!
We are taking a sleep break in NJ, and boy do I wish we had the woodstove installed!

Hey at least it was 10 degrees warmer last night than the night before.
I will hold you to that rendezvous.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
I'm realizing there is so much to do, it's hard to figure out what to start on next. Porkchop has a nice large compressor and it made short work of the bolts to the seat feet. I have three more rows to do and I'm done. He needed the compressor to do some riveting, so I moved on to re- installing my seat belt. I figure it would be something usefull since I'm driving the bus again.
I had to cut this out to do the roof raise. In the process I discovered that my welder is giving up. I could not get a good bead to start, even while heating up the metal before hand. Porkchop said to try his. I forgot how a welder should weld.
This is much better. Time to go shopping for a new welder.
I also took down the steel up front so I could check things out and replace the marker lights with the LED ones I bought.
I plan to build this back in with some wood work. There is a little weepage from two bottom screws on the far driver side light, and a little surface rust on the ledge under it.

I'm just a dreamer at this point. I hope to one day have my own bus and my own thread here.
Until then I've been lurking and reading thread after thread. Yours is the first that has inspired me to create an account and post a reply. Thanks for allowing all of us to share your journey. I can't wait to see your next steps. Keep up the great work!

Hobart 210 mvp. Don't waste your time with anything smaller. Also don't bother with lesser name brands. They will all leave you wishing you got a Hobart or better brand.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Feel like I'm making progress. Got the bus painted and all the LED marker lights on.
Night shot of the marker lights.
That bright spot above the bus is the moon.
I got the rear view camera installed.
I used the power for the radio to power it.
Installed the 7" monitor on the dash
Not in the way of driving.
Nice big color display.
The inferred lights work well at night. Made it easier to park.
I got a nice surprise today. My push button shiftier is having issues getting into drive. The most common fault is the buttons themselves. I stopped by the maintenance depot to ask a few questions, this being one of them. They gave me a new assembly.
The only thing left on the roof is replacing the hatches. The rear one leaked, so I started with it. Prokchop has a different hatch than I do and wants them when I'm done. After taking it off I see that mine have been replaced as well. This one is bigger and covers the rivets, I'm surprised it did not leak more.
I have the steel already cut and did not have time to cut it down, also I wanted to use the same holes. So I butyl taped the heck out of it.
We have rain coming tomorrow so I will check for leaks. I stood on the steel and the tape squeezed out of the sides so I hope I'm OK.

And thus ends the saga of the roof raise! You must be really happy to have that job done. It looks great! Nice work.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Here is a comparison photo of when I first painted the bus and the new paint.
As you can see the new paint matches the old paint before it was old.
The bus looks beefy now.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
That looks ridiculously cool, like it's ready to pounce, haha!!
Edit: Also, quick question on the welder... did you try replacing the tip? That can make a huge difference. Especially using fluxcore, the tips get fouled easy. I probably have 6 years or so on my Clarke.
