Re: The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailgate

Decades ago I worked for a carnaval ride builder...that foam is a kick to play with and we built a lot of our rides useing it as a starting place for the molds we would use for the fiberglass/plastic parts.
And yeah, the hotter it is the fast that stuff kicks in to high gear

yeah it was fun, but I'll never ride one again...but I did learn a lot about fiberglass/foam/plastic while I was there...even did a little wiring and painting.

I didn't say I wanted to ride the horrible things!

Some years ago I built a 14 foot tall Ferris Wheel as a Christmas decoration. Mostly sprinkler pipe. 1/4 HP electric motor. Teddy bears for passengers. Lit up the whole neighborhood. I think I'll take it with me to Burning Man this year -- IF I can get back to working on Millicent now!

I'm working on Millicent's forehead -- honest!

New aluminum skin primered. Riveting Mono-Brow in place now.

That looks like super duper "Great Stuff". I wonder how much of it would be required to make Millie float... I wonder if "Great Stuff may do to the job just as well, or in this case maybe a bit less might be desirable. BTW, here's the scoop on the "ping machine":

Re: The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailgate

I know, this is not as exiting as jacking the roof up two feet. But that job still needs finishing, and it's getting there.

The monobrow was intended to blend in better than two separate patches, and I think it works. Looks like a destination sign, rather than SB lamps. The idea is to paint "Millicent" on that "sign".

About the Ping Machine -- I don't remember seeing that skit before, but wow, that could be about the american health care system today!

And that ping sound certainly is a sonar ping -- as in Run Silent, Run Deep. Yes, some gadgets like that would be perfect for Millicent, The Mobile Command Center And Tea Parlour!

To really do it up you'd need a sweet roof ornament...something like this:

It's Millicent's big sister!

I like the way the monobrow turned out. It looks really good. I think the riveting rather than just sticking in place with some substance from a tube (the method I would have used after my welder made some holes in the metal) makes a HUGE difference. You continue to amaze me, Elliot.
