I'm told there is a 17 foot long mural being painted based on this picture of the first Racing Sculpture I built. I'll get to see it Thursday 18th, I think. Meanwhile, try to imagine this scene on the left side of Millicent!

You mean like I once did with my Miata?

All right, we have a picture of Millicentís left side. Not quite finished he says, but getting there. My tricycle seems to be in the lead, with Peter in full Black Forest Gnome costume close behind. The artist is Kurt Kabica.

Re: The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailg

Hello guys, Elliot's #2 here...Millicent has finished her 6th season of travels, maybe her 30th voyage in the bargain. No grand work since Burning Man 2012, just an added testimonial to incidental what-nots of this grand bus..

here the mighty lift-gate spans a creek at the Klamath Falls, OR, KOA for a race of the kinetic kind.
Surely there will be more mischief afoot in 2013! Cheers!
maybe Elliot can post the pic here, that's beyond my meager skills...=]

Re: The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailg

Hey Peter! Yeah, here is the "drawbridge & moat" picture, with Whymcycle Pete himself showing off a Kinetic Racing Sculpture he helped build:

I see that Millicent has traveled 37.300 miles in these six seasons, with only trivial mechanical problems -- most related to the accelerator and transmission linkages, which are on the left side and front of the engine and pretty much impossible to reach with anything less flexible than a trained gopher snake.

Oh... wait.... Well, we also had to replace both the starter and the alternator, which were medium nasty jobs to do "on the side of the road".

The engine pyrometer I installed a couple of years ago has failed. While it worked we learned how to downshift manually and keep the engine revved up when climbing hills to keep from melting pistons. (The engine power having been turned up a little.) I'll fix the pyrometer when I get around to it.

On the whole, Millicent is doing a fabulous job!

Re: The Millicent Chronicles; two foot roof raise, big tailg

Hey there, Shaman, and welcome to the forum! Yes, Millicent is a regular at BM. Try to stop by this year -- we expect to be on 5 between G and H like last year. We repair bicycles, lend bicycles, and run taxi service with the larger pedal-vehicles. In the mornings I volunteer with the Gate, Perimeter & Exodus Department. Of course, Millicent makes a pretty good Drop In Storm Shelter, so occasionally we have impromptu "hurricane parties". What are your gigs?

In news about Millicent; I picked up two folding bunks out of a toy hauler trailer. They will go in the rear of the "garage", increasing the "general bunk capacity" when the garage has been unloaded. Even when folded against the walls they will take up some cargo space, but we often have people sleeping on the floor, so this seems an agreeable compromise.

Great your doing burningman this year. I was tere 2 years ago dont know how I made it home alive. 20 people on the school bus towing the 15,000lb 28ft motorhome that I cut in half and converted to a trailer and I let 3 guys drive while I slept ,driving who wasent even from this country with no DL. That was my bad planning, It took about 8 hrs to get out of there onto the main road. My darn fault I should ave been sleeping I was just to excited!
