Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Awesome experience. You should pick up a scooter while you're out there. PGO's a great brand, and they're sold over here as Genuine Buddy Company, so you'd be able to get parts and service in the States.
Let us know more about the LP hot water on demand unit! I know they are the standard way to heat water in Europe and Asian countries. What's the energy consumption for those units (LP/gallon of water or rise of degree)?
Hope your time out there is rewarding and fun. Get back soon, though. Can't wait to see what your bus looks like when it's done.

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Very nice! That is going to look great on the bus. I really dig the last option on the first picture.

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
I have to agree that the last logo ( fits the name "Orient Express" the best.
I would suggest darkening the green a little, though. Otherwise the word tends to be a little washed out from a distance.

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
I like #2, but I think that is because it has a sharper contrast. If that is not your goal though, #1 is pretty nice too.

And why did you do that? I've built custom countertops for a couple of decades. I only used a roller and (most often) a hammer with a block of wood (rolled the air out, tapped the hammer on the wood block to enhance the adhesion needed with the contact cement). Never have we needed to weight to countertops down. Who told you to do that? Not trying to put your method down, but it was not necessary.

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Perhaps it was not contact cement.
Your replacement counter tops look good. Also a good job on cutting in the corners of the oak trim. Glad to see you back again--keep the pics flowing. Jack

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
problem will be the hoses of course..
you can also easily build a counter top that goes above your dash gauges. i did this in mine, and it is not bolted down so that i can remove while driving, although it just sits on top of the dash in front of the steering wheel, and doesnt block any vision.

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
like the upgrading! the outside lights are a huge improvement and the under counter lights are a nice touch. makes it less dark and dreary!

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Good find at the Habatat! How are you going to support the table when it is up?
Also, I had to laugh when I noticed the Oriental rug being used as a drop cloth..sort of seems fitting somehow. If my wife ever caught me using even her most worn out Oriental rug for a drop cloth you'd have read my last post by now

Re: THE ORIENT EXPRESS
Check out how toolbox folding shelf's work.
Remember a 45* angle is the same lenght as its wide,
Pull up table, support "falls" down(maybe 2in narrower than inside length) and stop before table goes past 90*
Or:
2 pc's of 1/8 alum/steel triangles 1 on each end(the tops would be level and sq. To bus side) with piano hinges and 2 solid stops each wouldwork great.
Basically you would lift table top up aboute 1/2 past level, swing out the "wings" from the bus and set the table top onto them.
Since the bottom of thed table top would have 2 "blocs" attatched to the bottom with a little more than 1/8 gap, it would be secured and level when you "drop" it down.
Did that make since?
If not I can try to break out mycrayon next week when I get back

Haven't seen a good crayon drawing in a while...
I was thinking something like this pic... or a set of hinges from a tailgate.
