Thank you! I mounted it that way because it matched the contour almost perfectly.....more of a visual thing really. I figured no matter what, if it started raining I'd have to close it anyhow. Also, if the latch happens to open accidentally, the wind will just force it closed rather than fling it right off it's hinges.
