trust me ill still be going to florida alot..! we have a lot of business there.. and perhaps ill try it again at some point.. but I used my expensive apartment far less than I imagined i would.. for the $$ I paid for that place i can make a LOT of school bus trips to florida and back and stay in nice places along the way...

ill probably aim it so the heavy stuff is out of the way in DEV a week or 2 before.. then I can run Redbyrd down for the final close out. and remaining pieces parts. . everyone is interested in red with its cooling / drivetrain updates so thats the one I want to aim to being to the get together.

DEV has more room for hauling as there are only a couple seats in it. so ill use it for furniture and such. had it out for the first time in a while yesterday or day before and its still rockin like it does.. A/C ice cold and the DT growling along like a DT does.

Hey Sandi,
I didn't know you delivered babies.
Do you only do natural births?

I do. I've been a midwife for 21 years. I travel all over the world catching babies. I do only do natural births. Since they are home births. Although I've also worked in the hospital.
Fun job... semi-retiring this year to take my skoolie on the road!

Christopher!

I can also help loading and moving! Just tell me when and where - and I will be there to help load up!

And I will be at the gathering on Sept. 30th! I should be completely moved into the bus by then - so having a place to park for two days may be a blessing!!

hey thanks guys for the offers to help me move!!!

seeing as im a minimalist when it comes to furniture (I liek that modern smooth lines look).. it really comes down to 2 credenzas and a flatscreen that I'll need a hand with..

my bed is a sleep number so it literally comes apart in pieces and goes in boxes or bags..

so my plan is to drive the DEV bus down.. and grab the furniture in that.. (if anyone wants to see it, an impromptu get-together can be arranged ).. im always up for that! and I love getting together with fellow skoolies old and new!

ill be back down with the redByrd for the gathering. Both busses are running fantastic! though I really need some insulation in DEV.. even with dash A/C and rear A/C>. it was 95. with dewpoint of 74 up here today and i got a bit warm

Portable generator

I know nothing about generators... is this powerful enough to run an apartment sized fridge, my lap top (if needing charge) and a couple of lights at the same time?
If I wanted to cook on my induction stove, would I need to unplug something to do so?
I would just plug the outdoor extension cord into the generator, correct?
Thanks in advance!
Sandi
Hitting the road in 23 days!!! WOO HOO!!! Which seems weird, because I'm in Mozambique and literally 8333.24 miles from my bus!

I guess you need the link to advise me... LOL: https://smile.amazon.com/Honda-EU200...ords=generator

I have heard good things but that generator - but was able to get a dual powered one - champion - 3500W for about the same price - I got this one for $950
Champion 3500 Watt Dual Fuel RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator with Electric Start - Champion Generators 100264 - Portable Generators - Camping World

It's always better to have more power than less.

Wow! So it uses gas or propane? That is very cool and it seems the dB is about the same, so quiet.
Is it easy to start? And it'll run my fridge, induction stove and charge my lap top? Because I have NO idea about wattage and stuff like that... that's why I paid an electrician to wire the WanderLust

It ran my AC and small dorm size fridge - and my battery charger - it's a nice unit - it had some really good reviews. It has electric start - so I push a button and it turns on. I have not tried using propane with it - but I like being able to - with the hurricane making a path this way - I am really glad I have it.

Thanks!!! I think that will be the one that I buy when I get back from Mozambique... need it for on the road, just in case I don't have electric somewhere.

Irma update

Just had a really good cry of relief! My son called her a "beast" and a "tank"... said the house was shaking with the 100+ mph winds and she didn't budge like she was saying *&%# you to Irma!
I am relieved the worst is over for my part of Florida... this has been a long 48 hours for me being in Africa during this storm! I can't imagine how it's been for all of you! Now thinking of those of you north of Orlando... praying for the same outcome.
Blessings xo
