Here's a photo as of this morning! Spraying is taking a long time, but it's totally worth it We still have to do black on the other side and want to do another coat of white on the roof. Then it's time for reassembly!

Re: *Two Birds* - 1992 Bluebird TC2000 - Updated 9/11/14 (Pa

I wanted to post this info here about our painting, since I posted it on a FB Skoolie group. I figured it would be good for anyone reading.

This paint is custom tinted Ace Rust Stop (the Blue). The white is Ace Rust Stop High Hiding White and Black is Ace Rust Stop Black Gloss. It's $30 per gallon at Ace Hardware. Oil-based enamel similar to rustoleum!

They gave us a discount ($27/gallon) because we bought so many gallons (7). We bought 2 gallons for the roof (used 1.5), 1 for all the black, and 4 for the blue. We definitely didn't need 4 for the blue. 3 would have done it and given us some extra.

It was sprayed on utilizing the buses air compressor that power the air brakes. We hooked an air fitting to the air tank, then a filter, and then a hose. The filter was $10 at harbor freight and was sprayed on with a $10 Harbor Freight HVLP spray gun (sidewalk sale) with a $6 dessicant dryer attached to dry the incoming air. It would work well with another compressor too, but this is all we had in the middle of the field where we sprayed it. We had to run the bus while spraying it (but ran off veggie oil). We even ran two hoses and two guns one day. We didn't have a regulator on the chain of air contraptions because it wouldn't work with the bus running and constantly creating more air in the tank. That means we were spraying way higher than the recommended pressure, but I adjusted the gun to spray a little slower.

We thinned the paint down with a bit of mineral spirits and sprayed on!

Last week we did all the prep work, which mainly consisted of degreasing with simple green, powerwashing, and scuffing/sanding all the paint with 220 grit sandpaper.

Lots of work, but it has turned out awesome!

Nice job.. oh but to have a place and the time to take it all apart and paint it right without worrying about thieves and such...

I just love how working with marker lights and the little wires fall back inside the panel.

I was a bit worried about that... although we have access to all the wires from inside the bus except for a couple that are behind the support beams.

Haven't posted in a while. We put the bus in a local art festival that was three weeks long and did some yoga/music events like we will be doing as we travel around the country. The paintjob is done (except for a few minor touchups), windows tinted, graphics (and our logo) are on, etc.

I'm playing music under the tent and our friend is teaching yoga!

Re: *Two Birds* - 1992 Bluebird TC2000 - Updated 10/13/14

Also, we have some guys coming out to quote us for spray foam tomorrow. We are also debating our flooring situation right now. On to the interior!!!

Opinions Needed:
We got some pretty nice used laminate flooring for our bus for a great deal (FREE from a dumpster). It's a nice, thick, hard-wearing laminate floor in good shape. We have been told that resilient vinyl plank (the kind that snaps together) is great for Skoolies because it is waterproof, wears better, etc. We were going to put up our laminate flooring for sale and use the money to put towards the vinyl plank. We wouldn't lose any money on it... so that's not a concern. We need some opinions... what do you think is better for a bus???

Re: *Two Birds* - 1992 Bluebird TC2000 - Updated 10/13/14

More Opinions Needed:

Did you put your wood floors down before cabinets, furniture, etc. and build over the top? Or... did you do the buildout first and put the flooring in afterwards?
