Re: TygerCub's Project

Tommy came out and finished putting the bus back together. Tried to crank big ol' BOB, and... Nothing.

Dangit!

He said the fuel isn't coming through to all the lines. I think it was specifically the return lines? Anyway, they were on the passenger's side of the engine. He'll be getting new o-rings to fix the leaks on the driver's side of the engine and says that may help the situation on the passenger's side. We cranked it and the fuel is getting through the filter, but not much beyond that.

So... some progress! Just progress with more problems.

It's all good. As we say at work, "It is what it is".

Re: TygerCub's Project

Okay, well... false alarm. Kinda. Yes, he was running, but something has come loose and it won't start with the key. Unfortunately, I don't remember how Tommy hot-wired it the one time I saw him pull that particular trick, so wasn't able to get the bus to the shop today. But I'm still optimistic! Tommy's promised to come show me what to do this week so I will know for next time (please don't let there be a next time ).

So... all is not lost. I just have to hurry up and be patient a little while longer.

Jeez Tyger! dont you watch tv? Just reach under the dash and yank out a random bunch of wires and then pull any 2 wires out of the bundle and touch them together, it will fire right up. Then you can drive away!!

Re: TygerCub's Project

Well, Tommy and I worked on the bus again today. He reconnected the ignition thingie and showed me how to "hotwire" the bus. We had to jump the batteries again, so I'm thinking it's getting time to replace those. Next year. With my tax return money. We did get the bus running though, and took it out to the shop. Unfortunately, it was closed up. I was hoping to just park it in their lot and come back Monday after work to start on a work ticket, but the parking lot was slam full.

So fall back to Plan B. I'll just have to wait until Monday to make an appointment and hope when they finally have an opening I can get BOB running again. But at least we blew the crap out of the pipes today and got to take a little drive around a couple of blocks. It's funny how quickly one gets used to driving something that HUGE.

My Dad called while we were eating breakfast and was happy to hear BOB was running again. (Yeah, him and me both! ) He hopes to help out with the build. It will be the first thing we've ever worked on together, and I'm hoping he'll get a kick out of doing this as much as I do. I'm definitely looking forward to working with him.

Unfortunately, I forgot the camera, so no pictures this time, guys. If you want to see something different, go to my YouTube site (linked below) and see how much the creek I live on flooded Thursday. Fun stuff!!!

I will TRY to remember the camera Monday when I go visit BOB again.
