Update on OLDSKWL...

So, came up with a tentative floor plan...


Not 100% exact, but gives a good idea. Any feedback would be appreciated. One thing not shown, want to do two fold up or down bunks in the toy hauling area. Also, the couch will fold out into a full or maybe queen bed, depending on measurements.

Also, got screwed over for the first time. Went to a local mechanic to have some service work done. Kept the bus for two months and didn't do anything! Went and got it back last weekend. Taking it to the GMC truck shop this time...needs a king pin, brake caliper, some brake lines, and a full service. In the mean time, we'll rip up the old floor covering and do some other minor work. Got the flooring lined up, so we will install that in a couple of weeks.

The nickname matches the company and I have plates for this and other vehicles, so keeping with the theme. Thought it worked.

I am into older bikes too, but mostly older GSXRs, old KZ1000s, and Kawasaki Eliminators. I would like to find a Suzuki GT750...those things and the Kawasaki 2-stroke triples...are terrifying!

Nicely done! And since they are Resto's instead of new iron, you do get extra points. Even if they are Wobblesakis.

BTW...had a buddy who worked at A.J. Foyt Kawasaki here in Houston when the absolutely brutal H2 Mach 4 750's came out in 1972. "Crazy Robbie" was running up and down the freeway feeder doing wheelies on the beast when A.J pulled up. Not to be outdone on anything race worthy, Foyt jumped on the bike, wound it up and within 20 feet flipped it over backwards crashing into a wall and breaking his foot. Bad enough except this was the weekend before Memorial Day and he had already qualified at the Daytona 500. He had a doc/buddy tape it up really tight rather than set it in a cast because he knew they would never let him race that way. He went on to win at Daytona (again) then, from what I heard, went straight to the hospital to have it set properly with it severely swollen and in terrific pain.

Put on your Race Face and let everything else fade away.

My favorite ride is my '82 Yamaha 650 Seca, we've seen twenty states together so far. I welded on an '89 CBR1000 Hurricane front end and it's waiting to get the business parts off an '82 Seca Turbo.

Speaking of two strokers, my cousin picked up a Water Buffalo(Suzuki GT750) sometime last year. He's restoring it slowly, planning on going 100% stock with a few cafe mods that are easily swapped out. I can't wait to ride it, but I hope one of his mods includes swapping out the dual drum front brakes! Yikes!

I'll make sure to let you know when his old lady finally makes him sell it... She's already said she's ready to see it go!

Any experience with the vintage Hondas? My experiences (CB750 and CX500) with them have been much easier to work on!

Did someone say Seca 650?!?!

Although its been mothballed for probably 15 years, I still have my Seca I bought in 1983. I'm the 2nd owner-1st owner was a Yamaha area service rep. Took the bike off the showroom floor + put a 717cc kit in it-Bassani pipe-cams + 29mm Smoothbore carbs. I street drove the hell out of it-also drag raced it with much sucess. I always hated the pointy tail of the bike-so I grafted on a CB750F Honda tail.

what do you need for Turbo Seca Parts? I tore one down for parts + still have a bunch of stuff kicking around.

I used to Ice race + flat track. I had my old Ice bike sitting around for years. There was a motorcycle race at a Vt. state-40 turns up a 4 mile hill. What The hell-I'll build something for the vintage class. I combined all the Yamaha SR/TT/XT 500 crap I had around + built this.

I'm overseas until the end of the year, but I'll remember that next January when I start getting her ready for spring! To tell you the truth, I really like the pointy rear of the Seca, though I did get rid of the very back and the fender.



Love that bike! Your SR500(enstein) puts mine to shame, though, lovely!

Ok-is that a trubo with RJ tank + tail (with the silver blacked out) Or is it a RJ with a turbo motor + back wheel? Still guessing the muffler...

It's an RJ with the turbo engine. The exhaust is actually stock from either the RJ or the '82 maxim, can't remember, they actually sound great cut like that. After the second time my brother wrecked and almost killed himself on the old turbo(LJ), I bought it for scrap, and promptly cut up the frame so he wouldn't try to put it back together! The turbo is yet to go on, and I'll have to either hobgobble the turbo's anti-knock electronics into it or just run REALLY high octane fuel! The RJ's cams are supposed to be hotter than the LJ's, so I might swap those back in, too. The skoolie will be the first order of business when I get home, but that Seca's gonna be breathing fire again not long after, especially if I run low on funding for the skoolie-- I already have the parts for the Seca!
