Exhaust questions
Got new tires on. Took a ride to test the feel and lost my exhaust. Question is. Can I cut this pipe down and do a side exit? I imagine the 35’ pipe is government regulated??

Oh no blow out. Just got 4 new tires on the back, but the exhaust hangers broke when I took it on a test run down a couple back roads. I've been thinking about shortening the exhaust for a while, and my question is whether it's mechanically necessary to be 35 ft long. I know on gassers that exhaust length is tied to valve function, but I've seen busses with 4' pipes before.

They run it out the back to minimize the noise and fumes inside the cabin. Many of us have shortened them and run them out the side with a muffler delete.

I do a lot of idling and stop and go type stuff here. I'm thinking of doing a single full stack on the rear chicken bus style to minimize it blowing in through the open windows in the FL heat. Plus I think it'll look cool.

Help me out here I’m missing something. I cut the rear heater wires to repurpose the switch for my water pump. Pump ran for a minute then stopped. No power at the wire. Fuse is not blown. Traced the wire all the way back to the box. No inline fuse. Did I blow the switch?

Does the repurposed switch have settings for different fan speeds originally?
"No power at the wire." What wire where, at the fuse box or the pump?
How do you know you used the right combination from the switch to the pump? Is the pump well grounded to the frame or have a separate ground wire elsewhere.
Pics would help, kinda lost with your comments, sorry.

It’s the rear fan Hi/Lo switch. I had voltage at the high and low wire. Pump is grounded to the switch ground. I connected to the hi/wire. I have power at the fuse and wire to the switch. I had to stop because it started raining. Honestly the wiring on these busses is annoying. I tracked the heater power wire back to the panel where it then hits connectors and changes colors and runs who knows where. The fuse power also goes off into the spaghetti and somehow gets to the heater wire. I think part of my problem is understanding the way it’s wired. I thought all these switches were ground interrupt switches but when I had the panel off it looks like they’re hot and ground. I guess these remove the need for a bunch of relays? And I certainly didn’t think my tiny pump would stress the heater fan switch. The fans on the heater could fly an airplane.

Disconnect the pump and put a temporary feed to it, see if it is still good.
May need to ring out the heater fan switch to prove it. That switch may have blown a resistor in it or elsewhere. High speed choice would have meant low resistance supplied to the fan, so if it blew then no power to the pump on that wire.
Keep testing I guess, good luck.

Ok, no power at the driver or rear heater. They're on the same circuit but different switches. I think you're right and the resistance blew the switch. 12v is trickier than it seems.

Water leaks
I keep finding leaks. My bus has been gutted for a year and sealed sealed and re sealed. I can’t imagine what’s dripping behind people’s walls.
