Welcome to the fun! I have to echo Bansil's observation about the hood. I mean, yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and perhaps in art there is no right or wrong... but that yellow hood is just wrong, man. Seriously, I would paint it with the green and just find a way to gracefully terminate the brown stripe, maybe swoop it down at the back of the front fender. My two cents. Feel free to ignore it; you won't hurt my feelings.

Re: wheelchair bus for my wife

I may paint the yellow hood the same color as the green stripes down the side, that will make Shelby happy, for now I want to get some work done on the inside, have a lot to do if I want to be on the road by July have to set goals for myself to get the most out of myself.

Re: wheelchair bus for my wife

Just a thought --- that's a lot of hood and no matter what color the front end winds up, a lot of reflecting area. I had an old '66 Dodge Town Wagon that I rebuilt and painted as a bike-carrier that had a HUGE hood for 1/2-ton truck. After about two trips in the Texas sun I went back and re-painted the center portion in non-glare paint. Not "flat black"...it was something called "racecar anti-glare paint" back then and designed to minimize reflected light which can be a real PITA. Especially at certain angles to the Sun. Worked like a champ and looked pretty danged cool too with a stripe added around the edges.

Did a quick Google and found lots of discussion on the topic, but not what sounds like the same paint. Most "flat" blacks will go chalky but I drove that old truck for over 17 years and it still looked great when I finally sold it...which I have regretted ever since. There are a number of Factory paints for this purpose (Mustang for one) as well as non-glare vinyl "wraps", and a number of school buses that have been painted to limit glare. Some in black, some in Flat Yellow. At any rate, I will be shopping for something along these lines myself real soon.

Like I said...just a thought.

I have not considered this before, I will look into a paint for the hood to reduce the glare.
