Re: Wild Blue
Just Outstanding Guys! --- Right homey and I like seeing the "chimney" in action. Hope I can find a place for my little wood-burner. What size/type solar panels are you using and how do you like the set up so far?

Yes. as the rpms increase the oil pressure will rise, at idle it will be lower. When it is cold, less then 30F, it will be WAY up at the top of the gauge until the oil heats up. That is normal. If the gauge is vibrating a little bit that is normal, but you can get better gauges.

Re: Wild Blue
What kind of toilet is that and where can I buy one?
What thickness is the wood and is it ship lapped or tung and grove?
I want the ceiling wood but Im in California so I would just screw it to the ceiling as it keeps warm with a space heater, no bad winter like yours!

Re: Wild Blue
RR --- roger the very real need to deal with the "Killer Dowel Pin" (KDP) issue in any early 4 or 6 cylinder Cummins. Seen way too many engines destroyed by that $.79 cent part. It does require removing the timing gear cover but the actual fix is simple with several options...1)....fashion a small aluminum tab that will cover it and attach via the adjacent tapped hole...2)....buy the now available Cummins part (a small aluminum tab) and affix the same way...3)... depress the pin just below the surface and peen the edges of the hole with a center punch just enough that it cannot back out.
One techs solution was to simply remove the offending pin, but that option does make it quite difficult to properly align the gasket for the timing gear cover. That was it's original design purpose.
The results of that pin falling into the timing gears can be catastrophic so it really does need to be addressed. Note that if the engine has been reconned by Cummins any time in the last few years, it may have well had a fix applied but you would have to have the full paperwork on the recon to be sure. That said, if reconned by Cummins and you know the "CPL" number, you can view its' history on the Cummins website or they can look it up for you.
Best of luck with it.

Re: Wild Blue
OK, I have to say that I love your bus and your location in the snow pictures etc. I am definitely going to read your solar information next. I just wanted to post here so I can find your page again. I LOVE the kitchen cabinets, the bookshelves, the floor... both plywood and with flooring. I am both depressed and inspired by your beautiful home.
