I don't remember if you've actually said so, but I assume you're affiliated with the oil industry? There's nothing else up there, is there?

The bus looks great.....like a blank canvas waiting for you to come home and paint a masterpiece on it.

Stay safe in the Bay.

thx plfking. Yes, we’re a marine services company operating in oil and gas. Right now I’m up here to figure out how to drive a hovercraft, but typically I run around on tugboats...moving supplies of all sorts around.

Other than the oil industry, there are a few small villages scattered about...Barrow, Kaktovik...etc...and a bunch of wildlife.

Haven’t touched the bus in over three weeks...[emoji22]. Replaced spending money on it with earning money for it. Envious of all you making great progress this summer! Right now my partner and I are getting it ready to hooch up the boat for a new coat of paint. It has finally thawed out enough to get some work done. Click image for larger version

That's a lot of tug to paint! Do you have to de-barnacle the hull first?

I'll trade my weather for yours.

I would have thought an ocean-going tug would have a deeper draft than that.

They're built for comfort, not speed!

Well, built for neither, actually...

Moving trailers in the fog at 2AM is not nearly as fun or cool as working on a bus. Yes it’s still light at 2. Haven’t stepped in ours since May....[emoji853]. Progress isn’t all stop though, been dreaming up all sorts of ideas. I’ve got a buddy building our wood stove. That ought to be interesting. I’ll be pissed if it burns down the bus or even worse kills me. Click image for larger version

It is wonderful how much the mind can plan and design whilst doing all sorts of manual tasks! I take advantage of this every morning while I exersize. It helps me plan out the day, not that the day goes he way it was planned.

Feels good to be home & surrounded by loved ones again. Can't wait to get back in the tin can, even if it has snow on the roof. Kelly found some great deals over the summer (washer
/dryer, water heater, & a few other smaller items). We splurged on a Dwarf wood stove from tinywoodstoves.com...looking forward to installing that. Hoping it'll keep it warm enough to work in there even without insulation in the walls and ceiling. I'll find out soon enough. The one by buddy is building (still) must be on backorder...I think it'll make a good sauna stove. Been reading & impressed with all the progress on everyone else's builds. Hope to make some of our own soon.

Installed the wood stove today. I was waiting for a day without moisture falling from the sky. That wasn’t happening & I was getting impatient. Sometimes you just gotta get it done. I’ve been trying to post photos on here for the last hour...not sure why it won’t let me.

Cool, er HOT! You sure have a shiny stack.

I see that the fireplace has melted the snow off the roof near the stack. Looks like it is working. Now you can work on the inside in relative comfort.

...and 4 months later. Hope all you folks are doing ok. We’re well. Good a time as any to spend some time dubbing around in the bus. Got the walls framed with help from my 11yo. Way more fun than math class I think. Ceiling next. Click image for larger version

Good to see you back at it! Also good to see you are using all this "forced" down-time.

Hey man. Long time no here from u.
I hope all is well. I’m fully aware that life happens to everyone.

My friend declined to come help the other day because “it’s too cold man”. It was 40*F w 20mph wind. Yeah, we’re wimps.
It made me think of you AK guys!

Peace

P.S. I does get too hot to work in the yellow microwave around here in Aug.
