Can a admin help with this

Hey guys....

Over on facebook I made a skoolie converts group and have had a person who is trying to get in to this forum is having issues...... Here is the email he has used to try and get in here spaceglitter@yahoo.com

Not sure what is going on but I told him I would post in here to see if we can get a new member in here?

This is what he posted in my fb group.....

it keeps saying i have an un allowed email. i've tried gmail, yahoo, and hotmail addresses. i wanted to contact an admin, but i need to log in to see email addresses! a little frustrating, but at least i can read all the threads.

Re: Can a admin help with this

Hi, Bapos -

Unfortunately, all the free e-mail providers he has tried are no longer allowed. If we take these providers off the "unrestricted" list on the forum, we are opening ourselves up to the spam problem we had previously.

Ask your friend if he has an internet provider e-mail. Usually internet services will give you one of their own e-mail addresses specific to the service. You can explain to him that Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. do not have any mitigation for non-human users. Someone could create an endless amount of e-mail addresses with any of these providers, and that makes it easy for spammers to continuously hammer on a site.

See if he has access to a provider e-mail, and that should help him register without problems. I hope this helps! If not, let me know.

Sara, I have a yahoo email address but have not been purged from this site. Should I be concerned that one day I will be purged from the site?

Re: Can a admin help with this

Hi Dan!

No. Don't be concerned. Your posts will be fine! We are not allowing new users to register with certain provider addresses, and we ended up purging a lot of "members" (spammers) when we worked to get this site back under control. However, I am the only one deleting users anymore, and we aren't doing a "mass delete" based upon domain names / e-mail providers anymore, so you will be just fine.

The amount of spammers registering for membership has dramatically reduced, so perhaps in the future we can open up registration to those free e-mail providers again.

Hope this helps!
